So I’ve read a few conflicting ideas on this subject so let’s see if we can sort this out
The 1/24 build week folks seem to be suffering from a batch of bad computer chips, myself possibly one of them
My question is. If your BCM modules are populated and showing so, how could you have a bad chip? If you have a bad chip and your on hold and you have confirmed this, are your modules showing to be alive?

There are more than one "chip" in a Bronco.

my modules are populated and I had an original EDD of Feb 22. I was all excited until they moved my EDD to May 20. At this point I’m LUX Wildtrak with all of my original accessories removed except the keypad. ( decided to go aftermarket for everything instead. That change did indeed immediately result in a VIN and a window sticker).

given the profound last minute change to my EDD, I’m assuming my WT is at ice mountain, from the press it’s likely due to the chip shortage, and yes you can have your modules populated and still end up there.

So which is it- bad chips or no chips? I see conflicting stories on this. I assume it’s the shortage.

MOdules populating does not mean vehicle is built, as I recall from time my modules showed and actual build date - it simply means, if I am not mistaken, that all parts are in the plant for assembly of said VIN.

Until chips are actually installed and powered up there would be no way to know if a chip is bad. Just like everything in the world, only a select few items from the production line (including chips) are pulled, tested and tossed

I've never been able to get the "module" link" to work. Only says "invalid vin #". I've tried to use it everyday since my dealer told me my bronco was built, but I can't seem to find out anything on any of these links!🤔

There are several modules outside the pcm and bcm..it could be any plug in module in the Canbus network . I don’t know what modules they show status of on on the link since I have never tried it. Is it only the BCM abs PCM they show?

Interesting. I had always thought it was well behind the real time progress. I know from some friends that these things are built long before you get an update. Basically blend date is the day it rolls off granted it can be plus a day depending on the time of blend (something hitting blending the evening will finish the next day). Also depends on how many downs the line has at any time.

But basically blend is the moment all parts are coordinated for assembly. The modules don’t get programmed until they’re installed. But the tracking site doesn’t update it right away.

It could be both, a batch of bad chips with replacements impacted by the shortage, i.e. no replacement chips currently available

I would suspect the Broncos on Ice Mountain are like the F series trucks at Kentucky Motor Speedway. Modules were temporarily installed to allow the vehicle to be driven to the parking area. Module was removed to put on the next vehicle.
Therefore your modules showed active at some point.

I wonder if this explains peoples modules disappearing this morning from the 1/24 group...

Interesting theory. Makes sense.
