Any new developments with MIC noise reduction techniques in the past few years? We have two major threads that I am aware of

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...-sound-aka-more-or-less-cowbell-please.53833/
and
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...dition-plus-bonus-fix-for-bad-adhesive.64146/

The two are very similar, but with slightly different application and different materials. Is there a reason to prefer one over the other? For people who have done this recently, which one did you choose? Please vote and post why you chose one or the other in the comments.

Both are similar. The main difference is that the 2023 version has parts from McMaster that use actual 3M adhesive, but the difference in sound between both posts or probably negligible.

I did the 2023 version + added some weatherstripping to my doors (see thread below) and those made the biggest difference in road/wind noise. I mainly just hear tire noise at this point (as long as there are no crosswinds).

I've done a few other small things here and there that I'll consolidate into a single post soon, but those 2 made the biggest difference out of everything I've done.

confused by your post. Did you eventually take the weather stripping off the doors and put them all on the body of the door jam, or is it still different for each door for some reason?

Sorry if it's not clear. I first tried out different thicknesses and different methods, but eventually settled on putting 93085K556 on all 4 door jambs like this

Seen various opinions on whether all the rubber from these threads makes much difference. The common point of agreement seems to be that the pool noodles make a difference. But some people think that everything else just makes closing the panels more difficult and some even state that it made things worse. What was your experience? Did you add all the suggested items?

Maybe you can do a smoking test. Look for where the smoke comes out, seal it then.

The extra pool noodle will make it hard to close, especially when the latch is loose and then it will make things worse. It is really case by case.

I did everything in the 2023 edition guide except for the layers of weatherstripping that they added to the sides of the rear panel because I didn't really have a place to take off the rear piece to add them. Instead, I cut some pipe insulation in half to do what you see here in this thread, and then I put a piece of weatherstripping on top to cover it. I'll try to take a pic of it tomorrow for you.

Because I did them all at the same time, I can't say for certain which modification made the biggest difference. All I know is that the difference is definitely noticeable and it's made highway driving much more liveable.

I also didn't have any issues with latching force or anything like that after I did the modification. It's possible that some of those people might have put them on the wrong surfaces/areas during the install, or maybe they used a pipe insulation tube that's not the right OD or thickness.
