I'm not seriously going to read through these pages to see if it's been said, but will give you my thoughts.

The "bold" text above is what's truly important. Go with the BD. Let your wheeling buddy have just as much fun as you. You can dirty up the outside, while your boy dirties up the inside... You'll cherish those memories more than you will the fancy headlights of the BB (yeah I like those too).

Go have fun!
That it is, man. That. It. Is. Thank you.

I truly believe the washout interior is worth the upgrade. You and I both know Michigan weather can be very unpredictable and having an interior that is meant to get wet will be awesome.

I initially started at the Black Diamond because I knew it had 90% of what I would want on it already done, but I couldn't resist the 12" screen so I stepped up to Badlands. And now that I was going up to high package, I might as well get Lux, and so on... This gets out of hand quickly.

I see you're in Whitehall. If you're up for a bit of a drive, head down to Action Water Sports in Hudsonville and take a look at the vinyl in the MasterCrafts. It is so unbelievably nice. If there is a Malibu or Nautique dealer closer to you, those would work too. I guarantee you that will push you into the Black Diamond.
I’m in Hudsonville pretty regular with work, actually hauled a lot of the limestone in to the portable cement plant that’s redoing the highway right there.. More than a few guys in friends with up here run the mastercrafts, I know how nice and functional the vinyl is. I’m leaning pretty hard to the BD, my main reason for posting was just to see if I was missing anything on either side. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, but more of the Black Diamond vs BaseManSquatch. I keep coming back to stock off-road capabilities that come on Black Diamond, the MGV, steelies and grille/lighting I prefer. ?‍♂

I have 4 and 2 year old boys, so I know I really should opt for the MGV and I wanted that from the beginning. But... BaseManSquatch is staring me in the face too. The struggle is real.

Having a hell of a time choosing between the BD & BB.

near identical specs (2.3/7 spd/ rear locker/ mod bumper/brush guard/ rock rails/bikini top and roof rack)

BB has signature lighting, tow package (for recovery points since the BB doesn’t have rear hooks (I THINK?) and the matching grill to the top.

BD has the MGV and washout floors (obvi), upgraded t case, rear tow points, better tires to start with (can be changed later), and the ugly steelies scream functional to me.

I’m ultimately going up to 285/75r17 tires, it’ll be my DD and weekend warrior. I generally prefer functional over fancy, but dammit I’m torn.
I have a 5 y/o that is autistic whos my wheeling buddy every weekend, but he can be extra messy, which leans me towards mgv but not locked in.
Less than $500 difference.

I love smart ass comments, but if you want to be snarky or condescending, save the keystrokes for someone else.
I am 100% in your position. I do need a hard top as I think I will go numb with soft top in winter. I am would like mid package and advanced auto for winter driving....it's my DD too!
Any help would be appreciated.

Not to hijack the thread, but I think the 12” screen is available on the BD with the $695 up charge. Doesn’t say it, but it looks like the bigger screen in the picture.

Yeah I saw that too, but it hasn't been confirmed so I wouldn't trust the images. Also, I am into the Badlands way too deep now. Only way out for me is if I decide to go Base with Sasquatch.

I’m referring to the 3rd option under radio type. Looks like the 12” screen which is different than the other 2 pictures. it doesn’t say what screen size it is on the option description. ?‍♂

That’s just for the built in navigation, not the 12” screen. If you click on it, it says it’s for the 8”.

Ive been debating these two trims as well. I’ve basically built them to be almost identical. The only differences are that I get the signature lights on the BB and the optional wheels on the BD. Since I’m not buying right away, I’ve deciding I’m just going to wait to see them both in person. I need to test out the MGV to see if it’s worth it. I’d also like to see if the carpet in the BB helps keep it a bit quieter than the BD.

This reminds me of another thread where they optioned all the models to be as close to each other as possible, function-wise. Ends up there is no meaningful price difference between equally equipped models, no more than a few hundred dollars.
Pick the model that has the most model specific features you want....which one checks the most boxes for you, then option it out to where you want.

For me, it's all about having the upgraded driveline parts, so Squatch is a MUST HAVE because of the M210 axle.
Mid package has little value for me, so I am sticking with the BaseManSquatch.
Prior to b&p, I was all about the Black Diamond or the Badlands, so that decision surprised even me.

Soft top isn’t too bad in the winter, our 4 door was a soft top and we had no problems as far as being cold. I prefer hard top myself though.

I was sold on a BD and now I’m leaning BB. It’s annoying that I need to pay for the auto in the BD and I don’t want the 2.7 because it’s a daily driver for me. It’ll suck not having the vinyl seats, but I’ll get katzkin’s. It’ll still be a lot cheaper, too.

I am almost in the same boat as you man. I keep leaning BD just because I like the grill better. Wish it had the lighting though.
