Ford could solve this by putting in an override switch and stripped down secondary AWD module with a basic strategy. Is that asking too much? LOL
Right?
Asking to much? No.
Asking to much of Ford...:LOL:

Off topic, My wife is thinking she wants an electric, hybrid, or plug in hybrid for her next vehicle. My understanding is, that is the basket Ford is putting all their eggs in. With my experience buying from them so far, and reading about issues like this, I'm not going to even start to consider one of Ford's vehicles when it comes time for that.

They need to get their _ together.

The mercedes gwagen uses electric -> vacuum -> hydraulic to lock the front / rear diff. Not sure what they were thinking...
Related: I've been wheeling my 23 year-old Gwagen pretty hard for almost 15 years (since I got it) and only had one solenoid fail on my lockers in all that time, and it didn't brick the rest of the vehicle.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

most of the issues of my 2010 gwagen came from mercedes computers. the rest were from the incompetent technicians at manhattan mercedes dealer. I was shocked when I heard about the locker system, but they worked when I needed them.

I miss the V8
I miss being able to shift to 4L while in motion

I kept mine so I have both vehicles - mine's from the era with very few computers, just before MBUSA started importing them. I agree - the V8 and manually shifting into low range and keep it there - big pluses.
