Since getting about 10k or so ago, I've had some type of minor vibration, very minor. Haven't worried about it much, but put new tires on and went about 1500 miles on a trip, it started to bother me.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined, I fix most of our work trucks and am very hands on. Even though this is under warranty, and will be brought in for it, the person that I am wants to actually know, see and feel whats wrong.

Problem-

-In 2hi vibration starting at 64 MPG when even a hair is on the accelerator (even if RPMs dont change, if there is ANY weight on the pedal it will happen) I'll get constant vibration, maybe 1-2/10. It goes away we letting off the gas instantly. Also goes away instantly if changing in 4A. Vibration feels to be coming from the pedal or floor

-In 4A there is vibration, at all speeds, only when letting off the gas, and only for about 2 seconds about 2-4x. So...let off the gas, vibration for 2 seconds, then none, then again. Repeats 1-2 times then none. No vibration with pedal on. Vibration feels to be coming from the pedal, or floor.

-A "jump" or "jerk" when first starting and moving backwords in the morning. This ONLY happens If i was in 4A previously (before parking it). This comes from the front end. I live on a hill, so I ALWAYS use my parking brake. So order is Start engine, put in reverse, pull parking break, start reversing and almost immediately here the jump. This is very very inconsistent.

After my trip, I decided to look closer at everything. My gut instinct said xfer case, FDU, or front driveshaft. After going over things this is what i found
1-Front driveshaft boot is ripped, "some" grease splatter. Seeing as i bought this with 15k on it,I'm guessing it happened a while ago and was cleaned from the selling dealer prior to selling it.
2-Front driveshaft has, what i would consider, excessive play. See video. It has a fair amount of rotational play, (rear has absolutely none) and the slightest forward back (maybe 1/8') play.
3- Xfer case has a leak seems extremely minor, and coming from the rear driveshaft seal.

My guess, is my vibration is coming from the driveshaft.

My hope-front driveshaft replaced, xfer case either replaced or new seal. The xfer case has very little play, so seal should be fine.

What are your thoughts?

Dealer looking at it monday.

There is a tsb for the front driveshaft boot tearing and losing grease, then trashing the cv. Take it in.

Yes, but my build date, Nov 2021, doesn't fall in the date for those. Shouldn't matter anyway as it should be warranty.

This is more so for the searches and if anyone has a similar vibration for them to get some guidance

Does your vibration at 64 MPH go away as you start to increase speed? Because I kind of have that same vibration at that same speed, but it goes away if I go up a couple MPH

Update- brought in yesterday AM. Confirmed the vibration this morning and sizable xfer case leak. However they do not think it will need a new front driveshaft. Lead tech will be looking further into it.

Not sure how you can miss the broken cv boot and grease splatter.... Will wait for final diagnosis though.

I'd suspect the DS is causing your vibration. Did the dealer indicate if the DS issue is under warranty? Based on a previous thread, others with the torn front DS boot got the entire shaft replaced. Similar to replacing an axle CV boot, replacing the entire DS is cheaper for the dealer vs. trying to disassemble just to replace the boot. In any case, I'd be pushing for a new DS.

Dealer called yesterday before close. Said "I was 100% correct, needs a new DS." DS is actually in stock and should be done today. Xfer Case seal is not so they have to order it in.

I'd be pissed if they hobbled together a boot only, as the DS is a 1 peice kit, as well as the current DS had a lot of play in it.

Update- they did the recall even though it wasn't in the date range. New ds and rear ds seal.

No leaking, no more vibration. Good to go

Does your VIN qualify for the half shaft replacement? This might be separate issue from your torn boot.

Silly question. Where the wheels spin balance at above 64 mph when new tires were installed? New tires 99% eliminates broken belts but not 100%

Sorry amigo I'm having a tough time following you.

These wheels had about 1500 miles on them, vibration was before new tires though
