2025 Base and wanted to upgrade the feel of the steering wheel. Don’t really like the covers that slip on and saw these that come with needle and thread. Loved the idea and went back and forth and brand, color, etc as we all do on any changes im sure. Finally pulled the trigger on one to push my Amazon cart to $25 and get the overnight shipping.
Overall im happy. First time doing anything like this and have zero needle & thread experience. I’m happy with the look, feel, and appearance of stitches.
Obviously, around the plastic trim there are some gaps and differences. I wanted one with a “trim tuck tool” but couldn’t find one I had previously seen. In addition to that I figured things out differently as I went along the wheel. I started at “10 til 3” so to speak, just about the trim on the 3 o’clock and worked my way counterclockwise. Angles were tricky but I figured it out. I didn’t know what to do around the 9 o clock trim so I pulled it taught a tried skipping the threads and it gapped some. By the time I got to 6 o clock trim I used a few “inside threads” and it wasn’t until I got all the background that I realized I would’ve made tighter around trim if I used all the inside threads around the plastic. However, it was $11 and they sent 2 pieces of thread. Eventually I’ll cut the thread and redo it. For now I’m happy I found a new mod to have fun with today.

Not bad for a first try. Does it make it noticably fatter? I feel like the rubber wheel was already too girthy to begin with.

I found a user selling his leather wheel from a higher trim and installed it yesterday. Totally worth it! It's night and day how much better the texture is, it actually has some cushion, and it's a slightly narrower hoop. Totally worth it

It does add a little, but not much. But a way better feel.
