My current truck is a 2018 Toyota TRD Pro Tacoma that has an automatic. I can not say enough how much I hate the way the auto shifts and how it will stick in 4th gear when driving at 60 mph.
I chose the auto so that in the event my wife would have to drive it she could because she can't drive a standard. It was a bad decision and one that I will not repeat with the Bronco.

I know what you’re talking about, test drove both a 2018 and a 2020 automatic Tacoma and noticed the 2020 shifted better. Supposedly, Toyota improves the programming for the automatic shifting every year.

From my couple of times of driving the 10-speed with 2.7, it was no comparison to the Tacoma automatic.

IMO: it comes down to what and how you plan to use your Bronco. From there, you can really do a pros and cons.

In my case,

1. I will be flat towing my Bronco with my RV. (2.3 / Manual is the lightest)
2. I will not be pulling anything with my Bronco
3. Getting 2-door (lighter)
4. Super fun to drive Manual

Bottomline: 2.3 is enough power for me based on what and how I am using my Bronco.

My answer's are the same as yours with the exception of trailering instead of flat towing
Had been set on the 2.7 since day one but the 7mt might very well be the last of it's kind and if the 2.3 doesn't "get it " hard enough there are tunes that equal the 2.7

Never test drove a Taco with an Auto, but the current get with Stick was almost perfect, save having to get used to the rear drums.

Don't these autos learn you and adjust accordingly? Always can work the Trans ECU if anything

Think of riding a motorcycle without pulling in the clutch and shifting... how boring is that. No seriously, that would suck. I don't understand those... "cough"... DCT Africa twins. I ride and have a bike with every electronic gizmo/gadget you can have, other than adaptive cruise control. I find myself grabbing the keys to my older bike way more often.

The trail turn and one pedal driving sound awesome but I have found that the trick electronic gismos often distract me from what the hobby is all about. My sister had an old school bronco when I was a teenager... stick obviously, no power steering, analog gauges, the body would tweak when revved.... was an absolute blast to drive.

I'm leaning towards MT now and 2 door. I just want to get as close to the original as possible.

I am 100% set: Badlands -High-Carbonized Gray-33” Optional Rims with MT and ..........leaning towards 2.7 auto (Not sure yet)

I know most of the benefits / negatives. Most of my friends and family think I should get the Auto because I will get tired of the stick.
My first two cars were stick and I loved them both even though I had them for just a few years. I plan to have my Bronco for 10+ years and do not want to regret my decision down the line. This is my 50th B-Day present to myself and do not care about top speed or performance. I feel like to Manual is a lot more fun. I just wish that it came in 2.7 V6. That would make it an easy call for me. What to do..

What do you guys think? Still changing your mind? Or are you 100% one way or another?

I think manual's are a lot more fun..............1% of the time. At 59, the 1% is not longer worth it to me.

We reserved a 4D BD for my wife and after test driving several manual and auto Wranglers the manual is so much more fun to drive in this type of vehicle. We were hesitant at first bc it has been 10 years since either of us owned a manual but test driving has cleared that up. As much as I want to 2.7 the manual tranny is way more fun to drive

I read that they did fix the transmission issues on the 2020, but haven't driven one. Some people were dropping 5.29 gears in the Tacos and that seemed to fix the issues.

Do we have any idea about when they are going to let someone (other than Ford staff members) drive these things? It would be really helpful to have an unbiased review of each engine and transmission option. Best case scenario we could test drive them.

I know these engines and the 10-speed auto show up in other vehicles (from what I understand the 7-speed MT is new) and we can make some inferences about how they will perform in a Bronco based on test driving those vehicles, but it is not quite the same.

Even at this point, I am not sure if I can order without having more information/road reviews about the engine and transmission options. Just this week we are starting to see road tests and reviews of the Bronco Sport (because they are now being delivered). Are we going to have to wait that long as well? Even later if we are in the ManSquatch camp?

I read all the post on this thread. Yes a standard transmission is more engaging. Just makes you more self aware. I do not have to drive in grid lock to often. I am hoping a modern Standard Transmission has a lighter clutch. Standards suck when you have pain. Like if your back is sore.
I am a bit of an aggressive driver. Get out of the fast lane if you cannot keep up with traffic. Maybe the less stimulating Automatic would mellow me out or maybe it would just piss me off searching for the right gear and not shifting down quickly under load.

One of the reasons I wanted the Bronco was to take more trips up into the mountains in the snow. How do you think it will be driving a MT Bronco in those conditions? I've never done it in anything other than a 2wd auto.
