I replaced it with a Turn Offroad system. I’m running 37’s so I wanted something stronger with more adjustment & accessory options.

The JCR was a great improvement over the OEM but it still uses the OEM hinges. I’d say that the JCR is a great option for owners that keep their OEM wheels and tires (lighter weight). Anyone running full size 37’s I’d recommend the Turn offroad option.

This JCR was only on my truck for about six months, it’s been sitting on my workbench for well over a year.

I do have a long term plan to upgrade my tires. But not till they need to be replaced and I only have under 8000 miles right now. My need for a reinforced tailgate is because I want to add my recovery boards on the tire. I have the rotopax mounting thing where it is a strap and two 2 gallon gas cans. So this will work well-I think? Also I looked at the install video and I’m not sure I could do it myself. I think that I’ll ask some friends who are good at that stuff and if someone can help me, I’ll go ahead. But if you get other interest feel free to sell it of course! Thanks!

Hi, how was your installation and removal experience? I’ve heard horror stories of hardware being lost inside the tailgate…and is the turn off-road product that much better? Thx

JCR Installation went fine. I was cautious not to lose any hardware inside the gate. I can’t remember exactly how I did it but it went smoothly. I do recall that I taped off the gate and drew witness lines to help with the reinstallation.

Installing the TOR gate was a completely different ballgame. That was a bitch. Getting the gate realigned was trial and error for hours with a buddy of mine who used to be a master tech. Overall the TOR stronger and more stable, it was a good call for my set up. 37’s, tire mounted trash bag, traction boards, 6lb propane tank, 3 gallon RotoPax, etc. Eventually I’d like to see better / beefier options to replace the entire assembly that the hinges bolt onto, but no issues so far.

I’d say the JCR is a good choice for owners that maintain the stock wheels & tires but want some reassurance or plan to run accessories, etc. The stock 315’s & wheels are waaaay lighter.

Thank you very much! Does it include longer hinge bolts? All necessary hardware is included?

No worries, happy to help provide any feedback as able.

I have all the original bolts that it came with. Not sure if they are longer etc, but I’d wager they are.

Here are some additional shots of the hardware, pretty sure it’s all here. If I was buying this used I’d probably replace the flat washers, wire brush these bolts and then blue loc-tight everything.
