I'm working on adding the ROAM Adventure Co 270 Awning to my TRMR, and am running into some issues with the TrailRax brackets.

The two Modular Roof Rack 90 brackets don't wrap/sit flush over the siderail as I expected them to. Even unbolted they will not fit 100% complete over the siderail bend. Pictures 1 and 2 demonstrate the issue. I only took pictures of the forward bracket, but the mid bracket had the same problem. Has anyone else installed a pair of these recently and can speak to whether this is normal or not?

It's not dramatic, but since they call out this on their website, I figured it'd be worth bringing up:
Our 90 degree brackets wrap around the strongest part of the rack allowing for great load bearing capabilities.
The second issue is the 270 Degree Awning Bracket (driver) has a side extrusion for bolting to the TRMR, but it doesn't quite reach the siderail bolt cutout. The red line in picture 3 shows where the cutout ends. The bracket has 5 mounting points in total: four mount to the rear crossmember, and the final to the siderail. I could drill my siderail to make it fit, but that seems odd to need to do when TrailRax custom designed this to work with their roofrack, right? I could also skip that bolt and go with 4/5, but again, it seems odd considering the custom design. They're closed Fri-Sun and I was hoping to finish this up this weekend. Any thoughts here?

I will add that while I love my TrailRax roofrack, I low key hate that they don't have any instructions on their site for these accessories. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out, but having some guidance would have been nice, especially when running into issues like these.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I had the exact same issue with the rear bracket hole not lining up.

My other complaint was that the mounting holes (and slots) on the rear bracket and the side brackets are completely different so depending on how you decide to attach your awning at the front you may end up having to use different slots or holes on the rear

I ended up drilling the hole for the rear bracket side mounting bolt as well as drilling my own holes on the upper part to add attachment holes where I needed them

Good to know! Thanks for confirming this isn't a one off issue.

When you drilled your siderail did you seal up the powder coating with anything?

Yes! Very annoying. I considered drilling the side 90s to expand them from M6 or 1/4" to M8 or 3/8" like the 270 bracket, but didn't want to mess up the powder coating. What I did instead was buy ultra strong hardware.

For mounting the awning to the side 90 brackets (not the brackets to the roofrack):
For mounting the awning to the rear 270 bracket (not the bracket to the roofrack):

Overkill? Probably. Piece of mind? Absolutely.

Is the Trailrax Modular Roof Roof Rack 90 Bracket is needed to install the Exoshell 270 awning on to the trailrax rack?
Should I also get the "270 degree awning bracket from trailrax?

I have the Exoshell and Trairax rack. I am waiting for the 90 degree and 270 degree brackets in the mail but trailrax recommended using the iKamper mounting hardware with aluminum spacers.

@GoodnightDaniel did you ever find a solution for this? I’m about to order the brackets for the iKamper Exoshell 270. Thanks!
Hey sorry for the delay. I injured my shoulder this last week and haven't been on the computer at all.

The only solution for the 270 bracket is to drill a hole. It's unfortunate none of these brackets come with instructions and that their website doesn't disclose any of that. It would be nice to go into the purchase with the right expectations.

For the regular awning brackets, I did end up needing to file them in order for them to fit around the 90 bend correctly. I just filed, tried, filed tried, until it fit right. Then I coated it with a black rust preventative spray paint. I also ended up drilling the brackets for the larger M8 bolts.

Hi everyone.

Since there is not much information about the trailrax and ikamper awning setup and I just want to give it an update for it.

I returned all the trailrax awning bracket (modular roof rack 90 bracket and 270 bracket) and go with Ikamper oem bracket. (I lose 20% restock fee plus $40 shipping fee. )

Then I email ordered an extra 1 set of the ikamper 270 bracket from iKamper that cost $150.

Now I feel much confidence with 3 ikamper brackets while driving around with 68lbs awning plus I can easy remove it whenever I need.

one more reason that I go with the ikamper oem brackets because this is the easy way to fit the Skycamp DLX although the RTT is my next year project.

finally, I installed the billet reinforcement brace for more support.

hope this saving your time on researching.
