I took my 2021 First Edition to my local dealer for 2 recall repairs and to replace the battery. The list price from Ford on the battery is $229 but the dealer charged me $249 and said that was the "list price". I used points to pay for it but what a rip off and dishonest not to reveal the "dealer markup" of $20. They also charged $175 for the labor to replace the battery. I also had the engine valve recall test and they did not tell me that an oil change was part of the recall and I had just changed the oil with full synthetic, and they replaced it with a synthetic mix costing me the loss of the synthetic oil. When I complained about these things the dealer just shrugged. I complained to Ford customer service and they said dealers are independent and Ford can't control prices. The same dealer had a Raptor R for sale for 40k over MRSP but at least they had to list that hiway robbery for all to see. No wonder people hate car dealers!

$229 is Ford’s suggested retail price. Not abnormal for dealers to sell parts above that.
All depends on the dealership/location. Same goes for the labor rate.

I’m guessing they sent you a quote prior to replacing it which you approved, so it’s hard to say they were being dishonest about what they were charging for the repair.

The oil change is certainly something I wouldn’t be happy about though. Unfortunately that’s just a lack of communication about what was being performed. Seems petty that they wouldn’t at least fix that.

Also, Raptor R’s are extremely rare and have huge mark ups at pretty much any dealership.

Time for a new dealer.

I seem to say that a lot.

I'm with Ducati on the battery though - that's par for the course if you want the dealer to do the work for you. And you threw points at it, so it didn't even cost you the full invoice amount. If you want it done cheaper, either do it yourself, or take it to Joe's Auto down the road.
