Do you believe Raptors will be rare enough to serve as a way to diversify investments like other specialty vehicles and appreciate over time if not driven much?

I have owned several cars and the Raptors depreciated the least. I sold my 2019 GEN Raptor for more than what I paid.

With electrification on the horizon, I think the Warthog will holds its value and then some.

In new vehicles, rarity only tends to reduce depreciation. If there is any appreciation potential, you'll see it on the dealer side with ADM.

If you are looking to make money on a new car, expect to hold it 15-20 years.

Good points above, and will depend on how many they produce this year, next year, and next year and so on. The Raptor is not a limited, one time production vehicle with only so many ever being made. It's a very nice speciality version that I'm guessing Ford will produce each model year, just like the F-150 Raptors. Hold value versus other vehicles, yes....an investment, not really....at least at this point.

I am not bubble wrapping mine, but like the other Raptors they tend to hold value so replacing them for newer versions is a great option.

F150 Raptors are everywhere. Not exclusive. I imagine the Bronco Raptor will be the same. Sure if you keep one locked in a garage for 30 years it could be worth more than you paid for it but who knows.

Last year this time everyone said you won’t even be able to cover your taxes flipping a Bronco. Now we’re not sure if a Bronco Raptor will be worth more than sticker. 😆

ETA: Any time you can put $X into something and it’s immediately worth 50%-100% more, that’s a good investment. Funny all the comments in here, tho

I found a Race Red 2018 Focus RS with less than 2000 miles on it when I was initially looking for an RS. There were only 300 of those sent to the US for 2018 model year, and the owner recognized that by trying to sell it for MSRP plus about $10k. Last I checked, it was still for sale.

Raptors are cool, but they aren't rare. Anyone with enough money can buy one. It's not like the RS, or the Ford GT, where you had to get REALLY lucky to even be allowed to order one. You may have to wait a few more model years, but Joe Public with $80k can walk into any dealer and order a Raptor.

Your best bet for making money on a Bronco right now (Raptor or otherwise) would be one of those scumbags who goes all the way through the order process, then immediately flips it for $15k over MSRP with less than 100 miles on it. If you happen to get the Raptor really early in the build cycle, there will likely be someone with more money than patience willing to pay big bucks. I wouldn't drive it anywhere except straight home from the dealer though.

It is not going to be a 118 production run like an odd Italian supercar. Lets say you popped $4000 for a brand new, super duper special edition Bronco in 1966. Forget adjusting for inflation, it will even out in the end. The average returns are 10.3% in the stock market since then. So that four grand would ring out at $540K or thereabouts today had it been sitting in an investment account. Do we see a lot of 50 year old Broncos going for half a million at auction?

A Raptor would be a shitty investment vehicle (no pun intended) unless they only make a few of hundred of them and even then, probably not that great a one.

I would take that 80k and have someone invest it for you. You will see a much bigger return on your (investment) if you do not plan on driving it. Compound interest over 20 years will be worth way more then any Raptor. If you plan to drive the the Raptor then get the truck and enjoy your money that way

I don’t think it would be a good purchase as in investment, but I think it would be a good purchase to enjoy for a couple years then sell it with little depreciation to fund your next toy

Don’t kid yourself, there’s much better investment options if that’s what you want. With the markups starting so high, it will likely have a high depredation long term as it’s not going to be a limited production run and the prices will be inflated at first.

No.

A quick exercise would be to look at a Ford performance truck/suv from 30 years ago. No performance Bronco was available (apologies to the Nite Edition fans) so enter the 1993 Lightning.
Cost in 1993 ranged from $19.5k - $21.7k new. A quick search of BaT has values over the last year ranging from 17k - 50k with the average sale being around 35K.

Sweet! you might be saying, that's a 75% profit over ~30 years. Not so fast, a quick look at an inflation calculator will show that 20k in 1993 has the same buying power as $39k today. So you are probably looking at a break even best case scenario.

Now, if you had taken that same 20k and invested it in the market ~30years ago instead of buying a brand new truck it would be worth about $105k in todays dollars for a profit of $85k.
