Other than the sound, the warning lights. It shows up as reduced boost. I wasn’t able to get the turbo above 2lbs boost on my way to bring it back to the dealer. It’s a known issue at this point and the service department has been great. It sounds like just a bad batch of turbos (ford contracts the manufacture).
Got it, that is good to know. In that case I'll keep a close eye on everything. At the moment I don't warning have any signs on the dashboard and acceleration/boost seems to be the same as when I first drove it, but that can obviously change any instant. It's helpful to know this has been a common issue in the case it does pop up.

I got that weird whistling sound a few times before the lights came on. I almost thought it was a air leak in the hardtop but it never changed based on mph. Hopefully they have the turbo issue sorted as the miles I got with proper boost had plenty of oomph for me. Still very pleased with my purchase despite the issue. 2dr/badlands/sas/lux.

My new 2.3l at 500 miles sounds the same except for the click at the end of each rev. From what I learned the high pitched whine is from the transmission oil pump gear and it’s somehow treated as normal. Mine is not as loud but still can hear it when the car is about to stop, sounds like an electric motor.
