I finally took delivery of my side steps for my black diamond. I'm glad they arrived, because the complaints were piling up about getting into and out of the Bronco
. The install was reasonably easy. You basically position the step where you want it and then adjust what is effectively a big set screw. The product arrived in very nice packaging, however there were zero instructions.
Tools you'll need:
Very small hex wrench to install the logos (honestly this should be included with the screws)
1/2" socket
Pliers (I used my leatherman)
The issue that I found is that the set screws do not turn very easily. I wound up using the pliers on my multitool to get them snug against the rock rail. You also need to be aware that there are two spots on the rock rails that are the frame mounting points. You don't want to install the steps where these are. Basically, you'll want to get on the ground and underneath the vehicle to do a proper install (or throw it on a lift if you're lucky). I used lithium grease to help with two of the set screws.
Overall, I am happy with the product and my kids really like the steps. The install is not difficult.
