I Rented a Gladiator...My thoughts vs Bronco

the gladiator doesn't look good until you accessorize it a bit. the lower end/base models are ugly AF. get one that has a mild lift and nice wheels/35-37's and a couple exterior accessories and it looks pretty bad ass actually. I still prefer the bronco but a modded out Gladiator is still a nice truck for folks that actually need a truck bed. I would seriously consider a nice used one if I dont end up with a bronco. my quandary will be the need for a bed. I have a utility trailer the bronco could tow easily if I need a 'bed replacement' but the bed would be decidedly more convenient. but i'd have to get a 'jeep' to have one and that's not really what I want haha

I had a Gladiator Willys for a little over 6 months. Driving on the highway was torturous! It wondered, it was loud, lots of corrections, Going above 70 was tiring, at least I didn't get any speeding tickets in the thing. My previous JL Sport Wrangler wasn't so bad.

I have a 392 and it drives pretty well both around town and on the highway. However, I also drive around a 95 YJ (including on the highway), so my idea of good road manners is skewed.

I definitely would pick my Bronco for daily driver, and in fact that's what I do. The interior doesn't seem as cramped on the Bronco as well.

Nothing beats that fun factor of a 392, but Bronco is definitely more refined both in interior and road handling.

Wrangler 392 is in a class of it's own in terms of cool factor. I legit believe that's the best engine in Chrysler/Stellantis/Jeep/whoever's line up, the N/A 6.4L V8. It has that push you back in your seat factor and sounds amazing. It could use some beefier brakes out of the box, that's it.

I agree 100% the bone stock gladiator with small tires is ugly. The first time I saw one I hated it. But when they are lifted, big tires and accessories I honestly think they are the best looking rig out there for that tricked out overland look. By far the biggest transformation out of any vehicle.

Drove my Bronco 7 hours straight other then a 5 minute stop for gas last summer and was not the slightest bit fatigued or tired from driving. First long road trip in it and that's when I realized how awesome the Bronco is.

It was no car in terms of pavement quality, but it was not a handful to drive either.

This. They aren't XJs with 8" of lift, no caster, and blown tracbar bushings. They're fine, Bronco is just better.

I've previously owned Wranglers and must say that my experience is that the road handling on the Bronco is in a different league...my friend, a staunch jeep supporter took my new Bronco out for a test drive on the highway, came back and the following day took his jeep in and traded for a Bronco Badlands...

Every vehicle is full of compromises. If I trailered my rig to rock crawling only trails, wrangler wins hands down

For every other situation off-road or on-road Bronco wins. I almost exclusively rock crawl when I wheel, the problem is 99% of the time I'm on pavement. The other 1% of the time I have to drive hours to get to the rock crawling trail. I'll gladly sacrifice some articulation to become just an "adequate rock crawler" but exceptional in all other areas for a lifted vehicle.

If you think the Gladiator/JL platform sucks on the highway, you've probably never driven a JK. The JL (and Gladiator variant) are MUCH improved over the previous generation Wrangler for road manners. But yeah, the Bronco is heads and shoulders better on-road.

I've driven ICON's JL and our Gladiator (on 40's) a few times and they're a bit of a chore on the highway (although much improved over the JK). But damn they do well in the rocks! I applaud Jeep for sticking to their guns with the solid front axle, despite the compromise in handling on the road and in all but the most technical terrain.
