Transferred my reservation almost 2 months ago and my original dealer kept making excuses as to why he couldn’t refund my $100 deposit...

After countless emails and phone calls to the dealership and ultimately Ford HQ....SWEET VICTORY!

Ford Bronco I FINALLY WON! D216FD70-D2DB-4949-8190-B9BD2B0C59F2

Hmmm. My orig dealer says he doesn't have the money, Ford does. Ford sorta confirmed that they would be sending the refund. (My old credit card was no good anymore, so it couldn't be done automagically.) Dealer says they don't get the $100 until order.......so now I don't know who has my $100....kinda figured it's *poof*.

I forgot about that... How is that supposed to work? I transferred to Chapman Ford w/ @DealerInsider and never paid another hundo. Should I get it back, did it transfer, do I need to write a check? Order converted successfully.

I went in to talk to them about a few things and they acted like they had no time for me....and I had an appointment! So glad I turned right around and walked out.

Glad you got your deposit back!!

After surveying the local dealers - all seem to be doing straight MSRP. University is the one that never responded to my email even though they were initially rumored to be doing XPlan.

After much soul searching, I’ve decided to stick with MSRP at Crossroads because I am in the first third of their allotment. The out of state options represented a “I am not in the preliminary allotment so what will the revised allotment be and will I be well enough inside to get a two door in 2021” risk. Besides, dealing locally I have a throat to choke figuratively speaking.

It is against my Scot heritage to spend the extra $2000, but hey, you only live once.

I can't not even begin to describe how incorrect this is.

The money 100% went DIRECTLY to the dealer you reserved with initially. The only way the dealer doesn't have your money is if you transferred your reservation and it was already refunded to you.

Curious why any of you had to jump through hoops to get your refund. When I transferred my reservation the deposit was refunded automatically.

When your old card isn't valid, it's not automatic.

In my experience, when your card is replaced, regardless of why, refunds can still be processed by retailers using the original card number.

Edit: You're quick with the reply button, @Headsong. :p

This is true. I had a fraudulent charge on my Visa card a while back and they sent me a new card with a new number. I had to return an item purchased on the old card and they did credit it to the new one and they're now linked for this reason.

That’s exactly who I transferred to as well. If your credit card wasn’t automatically refunded the $100 you the original dealer...you need to talk to them to get that $100 back. They have it. After you get your $100 back contact your new dealer (@DealerInsider) and they can take your credit card info over the phone to pay them the $100 deposit.

At no point will the $100 deposit automatically go from your original dealer to your new dealer even though you’ve already moved your reservation.

**I had 2 reservations that I moved. The first res was automatically refunded. For some reason the second one was not and I had an 8 week battle trying to get my $100 deposit back.
