Im'a say it again!

If recovery boards got you unstuck then you were never really stuck.

I bought the Badass Tents tire mounting system, the inner-holes of their mount intentionally lines up with the inner cavities of MaxTrax.

Drilling holes in the MaxTrax to line up with the holes of BATents mount, adding some hardware from the local store and some aluminum standoffs + Star hand knobs and they work just perfect. You can open the tailgate slightly past 90 degrees but anything further and you run the risk of crushing the right tail light.

Up here in the rockies you can probably get by without recovery boards in the summer (depending if you are in the muddy vs rocky areas), but in the winter you either need to have a set of these or a 2nd Bronco. Getting stuck up to the axles in the snow is not a fun way to spend an afternoon in the freezing cold after it dumps 3 feet of snow in 24 hours. And with the sparse (ie. non-existent) trees in the some of the valley systems, there's nothing to attach a winch line to.

The black hardware against the bright blue boards isn't the most aesthetic, as I've just been told by the wife.

Here is the distance between the boards and the tail lights, at 90 degrees open.

Overall, very secure and happy with the price and ease of access.

But she is ok with the Blue and Cyber Orange ? Those Black knobs are the least of your clash.

I use the Trailrax traction board mount on top of my Trailrax, at the front. Just enough room left after my Aspen Lite.
