Hertz 4 inch speaker review

I installed the Hertz DCI 100.3’s over the summer. Admittedly a low bar to top, but compared to the factory ones they are great. The Crutchfield rep recommended them over the Focal, suggesting that the Focal were much brighter sounding and would be fatiguing on the listener. These have plenty of treble and tighter mids and the clarity is much improved. As a result I’ve not yet installed a sub, and could do without, but the added bass would be nice to round out the sound so I will do this soon. Highly recommend.

I replaced the dash/pod speakers with the Hertz and did the kicker/fusion amp install. I've never done anything with car audio before, and it was super simple... I did have the dummy amp/sub so it was basically plug-and-play due to connections being live. The added bass definitely rounded out the sound, and I'm completely happy with the results.

The bass won't vibrate your seats off with the 6-inch kicker, of course, but I wasn't looking for that... especially with having a soft top. I just wanted an "acceptable" amount, and it does that. Could always get a better amp or did the 8-inch sub but that would have been more work seeing as I'm happy the way it is now.

did you only replace the corners, or the center channel as well? i currently have JLs in all three positions and the center channel is overpowering the corners, especially the tweeters - producing the dreaded "sibilance."

Replaced the two front in the dash and two rear speakers. No center speaker for me since it isn’t the B&O system.

I've been looking at these Hertz 4" speakers and the JL Audio C2-400x.

The Hertz are appealing because of the higher sensitivity, but I'm a bit worried about their use of the paper cone, in terms of durability and with the top off, etc.

Anyone have thoughts on that issue?

Dont second guess the Hertz - they rock. Have them in the front corners and also in the speaker pods. Night and day difference

I listened to the the Hertz, Focals, Infintity and Audiofrogs. The Audiofrogs were by far the best sounding of the group, but I really couldn't stomach the idea of going that expensive to replace an already overpriced B&O system. I have always liked Infinity and have them in my home theater system as well as previous vehicles, so I went with the newer 407 Reference series over the Hertz or Focals.

Since I have the B&O, the DSP handles the crossover frequency cutoffs. I then upgraded my sub to a Kicker Comp R 8" in the factory enclosure (added polyfill to all speaker areas) coupled to a Kicker Key 500.1. Now the system sounds like it should have (I didn't replace the kick panel speakers, but I am leaning towards doing them) For those I'm likely going Memphis MJP6.

Great sounds huh? Especially vocals My next move is to install a 10 inch Hideaway self powered sub from Kicker.....

Yes I am even happy with the rear pods now. I do not want to just listen to the pods and if I try it is not that good. But using the fader I can create a very good sound stage where I hear the pods integrate with the fronts very well.

I am interested in trying a very efficient well rated 8" sub with the existing amp and enclosure. The one I have my eye on is the 8" JBL Stadium 82SSI, it is rated at 88dB/meter. I wish I knew the efficiency of the stock sub and the watts of the stock amp. It would make it easier to decide if it is worth the bother.

Yeah even my Focals, which were the first ones I tried installing....are NOT as good as these Hertz ones. Big soundstage difference. You'll like it.

Yeah... you won't be able to compare this to your Tesla. I had a model 3 performance before the Bronco, and the system that comes with the dual-motor/performance model 3/Y's like our are very very good.

The sound definitely improved after I installed everything. I know there were a few forscan changes that needed to be made... did you do those?

I've heard great things about Hertz... Focal is good quality just very bright with the metal tweeters

PAINFULLY bright. I have slatefibers and they were a nightmare to tune.

Silk tweeters for everything from now on. I learned the hard way.

So I modded my sound system a few months ago and got 4 inch Focals and 6 inch Kickers. I also have added a Kicker Key 200.4 AMP.

I recently swapped out my DASH Focals for Hertz. It's a VERY impressive difference in sound. Cleaner, louder, tighter, more details and much better imaging. I highly recommend looking into the Hertz speakers. Just thought I'd share

Plug and play, but I also added 600hz bass blockers (https://a.co/d/7OEldiP) so I did splice some.......crummy....I totally forgot about those bass blockers....gotta update ze MAIN thread

Yes those 4in Hertz speakers were a much improved upgrade over the stock B&O dash speakers. I paired them with the 300hz bass blockers. Brighter and cleaner sound over the B&O speakers. The only negative was I measured a 1DB drop over the stock speakers.
