This has nothing to do with Matching VIN or workmanship. My concern here, I don’t keep a vehicle normally longer than 3 to 5 years. It’s not something special, it’s not a two door that I waited years for. When I go to try to sell it or trade this in How much depreciation I’m gonna have as a result of a major repair? That’s the burning question.
I feel your pain and get it!!!

Get yours to Ford… they dropped oil and cut filter and not good for a vehicle under 100 miles. My oil looks cloudy and bits of what appears to be metal in it. Its super cloudy.
Just catching up here, what is the status? Did they find the problem? What does dropped oil and cut filter mean? Did you determine if your knock increases with rpm like cmecatchu2s or is it a constant speed?

Mine, “heading 180” does change with rpm speed, according to the service manager they are ordering a new engine, short block. They have told me nothing about the oil or filter and I don’t think they’ve checked it as per yesterday the vehicle is still in the same parking spot out of the back lot that it was when I left it.
As for “cmecatchu’s” bronco, I think they are the one who had the oil examined. I will leave it to them to respond regarding their status.

New engine but there is no diagnosis? Sorry to confuse your posts.

Sounds to me like it, the service manager told me that they went back out there after I left, this time with more technicians who “crawled underneath it” and determined the noise was coming from down low. He advised me previously that he suspected a loose rod bearing or something to that effect, Which falls into place sometimes or sometimes doesn’t which could explain the intermittent issue.
The fact that they diagnosed this in a parking spot out back and were able to get approval for a new engine tells me they already knew there was a problem.
The vehicle has not moved from the place I left it, way way way in the back 40. It hasn’t even seen the inside of their service garage and it’s got a new engine on the way.
For whatever that’s worth

warranty work will def not show up on your carfax. My RS had the headgasket replaced due to warranty and it was not on the carfax after the work was done.

Some of you guys are gonna be real surprised when your engine replacement shows up on Carfax. “ But wait, the people on the forum said it wouldn’t show up”. Try taking that to the bank.
Aside from Carfax it will be in Ford’s network maintenance records. I could probably take it to any dealership in the United States to trade it in to which they have access to its history.

I’m not so desperate for a 51 blue 4 dr wildtrak that I’m willing to peacefully resign my position here. These things will be a dime a dozen here in a couple of years.

it means drop the pan to see if there are any metal parts in the oil. Same with the filter, cut it open to see if any metal is in the filter.

What does dropped oil and cut filer mean?

I’m sorry I’m not trying to be a smart ass but do you base your quotation based on your one experience?

Go online and Google search “warranty work on Carfax”
There are other forums out there where others HAVE had it show up.
I just don’t believe there is a stead fast and hard answer to that. Maybe it’ll show up, maybe it won’t.

And again, removing Carfax from the equation, it will certainly be in Ford’s network of maintenance history records. So if I take it into a Ford dealership to have it appraised for trade, Carfax or not, they’re gonna see it.
Is it going to devalue my vehicle? The answer seems to be only yes or no opinions, not facts.

It’s my understanding that Carfax reports what it it’s been given. Garbage in, garbage out. If the service department reports it, it will certainly show up. That seems to be discretionary. If the service department plays by the rules, I would suspect it would be reported as a maintenance record. Now there may be some that don’t report it or there may be some handshake deal I could make with someone not to report, but is that really the avenue I wanna take on my brand new unit?
What I have found was a considerable amount of inconsistent answers from dealerships over the years. One service advisor to another service advisor says this one says that. Even sales staff can’t always give ya a straight answer.
Even when I went in to sign the finance note, the payment was different than quoted. I had to heckle about that until they called Ford finance and make the adjustment…
One thing I’ve learned about dealership folks, there is a heck of a lot of smoke and mirrors So even if the guy tells me “no we won’t report it” am I gonna be confident in that? absolutely heck no.
Later on down the road when it shows up on Carfax and I confront the person I’m gonna get a “weeelllll.. yeah we thought we could……” Now you see where that’s going
I certainly think there are some instances that that don’t get reported. Am I willing to gamble that? At this point no, not without something in writing and signed by someone with more clout than a service advisor.
Give me the general manager of the dealership with a signed statement that it will not be reported to Carfax, only then I might reconsider my position.
But even still, that doesn’t keep it out of Ford’s system and I wouldn’t be surprised if GM or any other auto manufacturer has some access to other’s internal mx records.
I don’t think it matters where you go, it’s going to be a black cloud no matter how you look at it; a black cloud on a vehicle that I paid over MSRP, less than a month old with 1000 miles and an identified problem on day one, I’m sorry, I’m just not willing to swallow that pill.

When mine did not appear on my carfax report, I asked 2 different mechanics and was told warranty does not appear on carfax. I had 2 different fords

2016 RS >> Headgasket
2018 F150 >> Cam Phasers

Neither one appeared on my carfax.

Just sell your Bronco if you are worried about it. Do it now and you will prob make money on it.

Maybe
But it’s financed, am I willing to shell out 60 K to pay it off so I can sell it? Prob not. I’m also not willing to let sleeping dogs lay and not provide a full disclosure to a potential buyer.
I (we) speaking for others, didn’t ask for this mess. We don’t go out and buy a new cars so we can sit here and spend hours on forums
trying to figure out WTF is wrong. I’d much will be shopping for some exterior lights or something, not looking up Carfax BS.
Ford has the resources to deal with it, it is my opinion they need to accept the problem and make it whole. And when I say whole, I don’t mean a warranty engine disassembled of my 2 week old vehicle.

Look, and I even explained, if it were X months down the road and had 12k miles and was already due for its tire rotation, Yeah, I’ll probably have to just go ahead and take the warranty work. But man, this started on the first day I got home. There’s no excuse for me to have to accept A full rebuild. No F way

A replacement engine under warranty will have almost no affect on resale value. I say almost because the only people who should care are the numbers matching folks. GT350s with replacement motors are priced the same as ones without replacements. Hell my 01 Cobra had a new motor dropped in it. All it means for me is around 45k less miles on the motor than the chassis. I really think you are getting way into the weeds on this. I understand being frustrated and upset but the likelihood of them buying it back or replacing it are next to 0. Legally they don't have to unless they can't fix the issue after a "reasonable number of attempts".

What does dropped oil and cut filer mean?
Means the engineer who heard noises via see what I see virtual headset/meeting told my dealer to do this and they found metal throughout on an engine with 60 miles.
my oil looked like a glitter bomb went off in it. Should have been clean. Filter had metal pieces in it as well.

You may be absolutely correct. However, I do want to put all of my options on the table, if there are any, and make the decision based on that. I’m going to make every attempt to provide myself with those options before I make a final decision.
I will not be able to weigh my options unless I get myself in a position to have some. Maybe I won’t have any, I don’t know, but to just simply conform and comply without, at minimum, making an attempt seems foolish.
I understand there are many out there that waited for years for their bronco, especially the two door models. I can understand why they would willingly have the engine replaced without a fight. 2 years of anticipation and now this, Yeah put a new motor and give me my darn car.
far as I’m concerned, this was not highly anticipated for me. I’m not checking my emails every day waiting for a VIN confirmation. So yeah, I’m gonna at least try to get another. If they don’t do it, I can’t say I didn’t try
