Well, my Bronco suffers from the (apparently rare) issue of headlights coming on randomly by themselves, long after it’s been parked/locked.

Its done this since day one (got it in may)

Id read others have had the same issue, and the consensus was there is a logic board at the headlight “switch” that’s faulty (chips, go figure) and Ford was alleged to have the corrected module avail this past October.

So, thinking it’s December, I’ll get my first oil change (under 3k miles) and get the issue resolved.

Nope, dealership had absolutely no clue what I was talking about and couldn’t find the service bulletin number I’d found online (SSM-50842)

“Just bring it in and we’ll take a look”

im think oh boy here we go lol.

Anyone else have this issue and get it resolved?

Ah ok thanks. However I would at least THINK the service/parts department would be aware of the issue. This guy was (I believe) genuinely clueless. Thanks for the update

You have the wrong SSM number, which is probably why they couldn't find it.
51166 is the correct one.

I had the new switch installed per the SSM in late November. The phantom light issue has not returned. There is a detailed thread elsewhere in the forum. You will need to educate your dealer. Take in the SSM. Many report the lights coming on 1 hour and 20 minutes after shutting the engine off. Your dealer will have to be patient to recreate the issue. Many have reported the part is on back order.

According to my paperwork from the Dealer, the old switch was 11654A.

The new replacement switch for my Base, non-foglight is: M2DZ*11654*GC

They checked OASIS, reference SSM 51166.

I can report that so far so good. No phantom lights

If my dealer had to recreate a known issue in order to fix it, I would go ballistic, make a scene, and make myself a a pain in the ass to Ford...

I showed up with the problem written out for the service writer and I taped a copy to the dash for the technician. I also had pictures AND video. I gave them explicit instructions on how to recreate the issue and noted if they start the vehicle or even open the door before the 1 hour 20 minutes was up they were wasting their time. The young man who was the service writer probably thought I was a psycho. He blinked a few times and said “I believe you sir.” It still took a second trip to get the part in, but it is fixed now. I am happy.
