I've said it multiple times before, as I've sat in on a good many dealer council calls and spoken to the Bronco brand manager multiple times, it wasn't solely the dealers who got the allocation formula changed. Ford was not a fan of what happened with the low ball pricing strategy. Sure, I think the dealers definitely complained, but that was not the driving decision. It absolutely was a brand devaluing tactic that drove it.
So Ford is purposefully punishing those dealers that are willing to sell below MSRP because they are worried about the reported re-sale value of their vehicles?

Thing is I am going to spend more money going with granger. 1000 miles there and 1000 back. That eats up any discount they gave me. I am going because the dealers here are absolute sleezeballs!! If a dealer closer by got on the forums and were honest and nice like granger was to me I would have my bronco there. I would gladly pay 2000$ more then granger if any of these places had morals and integrity. It would save me a long distance trip. This has nothing to do with money for most of the people.

Now that it's been a couple of days, and the fog that came over me when this new allocation formula dropped has cleared, I just don't know what I'm going to do. I mean I wanted a damn Bronco, and I wanted it before I got old to enjoy the thing. There's just nothing out there that compares for me. So for now I'm just gonna put in my '22 order, and just ponder the situation Ford has forced on me. I do know one thing though, I won't cancel my order. I will however give Zach, and Granger the chance to keep it as dealer stock if I decide to go in another direction. I'll just be damned if I'm giving that slot back to Ford.
Good plan. I'll do something similar with my Texas dealer.

Lol basically same boat. Our plan is to fly out there then drive about 1700 miles home, figure I'd do some sight seeing on the way but I'd still rather make the trip for an honest dealer then deal with some sleezy one.

If Ford thinks Granger offering discounts devalues the brand more than hanging thousands of fanatical Bronco fans out to dry in order to spite a handful of dealerships, it says a lot about where their head is at.

I could add to the list, but it's not simply about buying from a dealer down the road vs. across the country.

I can't opine on Ford's allocation methodology relative to other manufacturers and new product releases. I expect it was based on some of the same factors as the updated methodology. Part of the reason for their approach is to get dealers to sell the full line and not cherry pick. The other part is to ensure that each dealer gets a bite at the apple.

I 've said this a couple different ways, and won't beat the dead horse any longer - but no, I don't think it is equitable to all dealers to have one dealer go collect up all the orders for themselves. I don't think its equitable to allow Granger to have a disproportionate share of production so then can sell more, at the expense of other dealers.

And yes, I think that dealers who are price gouging are unprincipled morons who shouldn't be allowed to sell even one vehicle.
it is irrelevant what is equitable for the dealers. what is relevant is that Ford set up the reservation system by time stamp order. we did not create the system, and the dealers did not create the system. Ford says sign up for your Bronco at ANY DEALER you choose. Ford did not say sign up for a Bronco at any dealer that we decide to give allocations to. what part of that is not understandable? signing up for a Bronco at any dealer i choose was apparently just a "guideline", that Ford never communicated to us at time of reservation.

Ford did not say upfront that they can and will change the rules after the fact. we took Ford at their word. Ford did not say reserve your Bronco and they will decide which dealer gets the allocation. If Ford says your Bronco will come based on time stamp order then most rational people would believe that was what they would do. i don't remember the fine print saying reserve your Bronco and we will build and deliver based on allocations to the dealer. if that was so then why the fffff would they originally tell us to choose ANY DEALER? does any rational person believe we would reserve a Bronco in 2020 so that we could receive it in 2024 and beyond?

it should be irrelevant what other dealers sell and don't sell of Ford products. because Ford rewards dealers who dump their unwanted products, they should be rewarded? how about Ford make products that are of good quality and good value, that consumers WANT to purchase, so that their is no need to reward big dealers who sell a greater quantity of their less desired mobiles. make product that consumers want, then sell all of them you can...Ford.

it is equitable for consumers to reward individual dealers who offer the price, service, and integrity they are seeking. Granger is that dealer. if every Ford sold was through Granger, then i guess the other dealers would have to improve their game to compete. instead, many reservists, now orderists, will not follow through on their Bronco orders and buy something else...like a Jeep. sure Ford will still sell the Broncos, but upset customer attitudes will linger, and long term effects on Ford business are likely. uh you hearing this...Ford

When I think of the face of Ford- I think of Leo Bebee- the jackass in Ford upper management in Ford vs Ferrari !
This entire situation has had me thinking about Ford vs. Ferrari all weekend. This is a really bad look on their part.

A few here keep going to the deal that Granger is offering and contemplating those merits. In reality as you see, so many are spending more by traveling and picking up their Broncos. It is about customer service and honesty. I was not about to give a few thousand dollars in ADM or risk losing the Bronco that I ordered because some local dealer deemed it so. None of the local dealers here wanted to communicate or put anything in writing. The savings are great, the customer experience is priceless! #FreeGranger

In all practicality, one can and will wait for a Bronco for only so long. But if I give up on my Bronco I’d be damned that I would buy another new vehicle at any dealer except Granger!

19! You know what that number is @Ford Motor Company? That's the number of Fords I have purchased from you! What is that, $500k in sales? Shall I list them for you? Started with an 89 Probe, or shall I list what I currently have? How about my 18 F-150, 19 Fusion and 20 Explorer. Not to mention the other three Fords still in my stable.... For the first time in my life, I'm feeling like selling all 6, cancelling my Bronco and buying who knows what.... My guess is it will be from a company that cares about the small dealers, cares about their loyal customers and honors what they promised. Do you not care about the end user customer?

There I have done it again, I fired myself up! 🔥

No, your math is right (barring odd chip delays and the like), Ford can and will make them just as you said. Ford has INTENTIONALLY CHOSEN to give their favored dealers more allocations (not officially yet, but the initial numbers support that) than reserved orders that they will use to put dealer stock on the lot and sell to anyone off the street. That means they value many reservation holders not one bit. Again, it is not a capacity issue, it is a CHOICE that Ford is making to punish the small dealers for being uppity and having gotten too many orders that the big dealers wanted and trying to drive their customers to the big dealers Ford likes better.
This X 1000%. I get maybe throwing the big dealers a couple broncos a month to placate them, but to say you're going to do it to such a degree where it moves even one reservation holder back to 2023? That seems unreasonable.

I wonder whose brilliant idea at Ford it was to create a customer focused, lifestyle vehicle, brand and marketing ecosystem....and then go out of your way to lie, renege, under communicate and devalue the people who you are trying to attract?

At every turn in the road, Ford has managed to demonstrate that their end Bronco customer is something that they just don't care about.

Exactly! and on the opposite side of this; this was a chance for Ford to attract new customers. i have never bought a new Ford; yet i have 4 to Granger (1 bronco delivered, one coming this Fall, one october reservation coming in 2024-5, and one lightning). this whole sordid affair with Ford has not built any brand loyalty within me. dealer loyalty yes, and i will go through with these Granger Ford orders. after that, no more Fords. but future Jeep or Ram truck orders go to Granger, and i am in south florida ($1400 to ship from Granger to Ft Myers).

My grandfather owned a gas station that my father worked in as a young boy. It was what you would picture as a typical small town full-service gas station in rural Iowa. He grew up around the gas station and that is where he learned his blue-collar work-ethic. It is also where he first started to sell used cars at the age of 16. Fast-forward to 1978 he purchased a Dodge store in Granger, Iowa and later in 1987 he purchased a Ford dealership in Dallas Center, Iowa. He then relocated the Ford store to Granger and become what is now Granger Motors & Granger Ford.

He had a saying when we would complain growing up. “If it was easy, everyone would do it.” The last week has been a great reminder of that. Our staff, starting with Albert and now continuing with a 5-member team, has worked very hard over the last 16 months. Yesterday’s allocation announcement was a gut-punch. I tend to be a glass is half-full guy, and this certainly has been a test of that.

We have the Bronco6G community and a lot of loyal customers to thank for all their support and my responsibility lies with them. We want them to be taken care of properly. There is no other way to sugar coat it, the allocation formula does the biggest disservice to our customers. Ford decided to dip their toes in the “reservation” system emulating a method made popular by Tesla’s recent success. In the end, they couldn’t dive all the way in and reverted more closely back to the franchise/allocation system that has been in place for over 100 years. I get it. You want to reward the dealerships that have sold hundreds and thousands of vehicles on an annual basis. The franchise system also benefits the consumer because of discounts and aggressive pricing. If this was Tesla, there would be no discounts. There would be no Granger Ford.

To recap 2021, we received allocation of 203 units. This was on roughly 600 reservations we received before the allocation cutoff. It was reasonable to assume that moving from 6 to 12 months of production would safely bump our allocation to around 400. It was also a reasonable assumption that including all reservations as a factor, instead of just the September cutoff (1300+ reservations), would double our allocation count again to around 800 units. Adjusted down slightly, we were anticipating 700-ish Broncos for 2022. That isn’t how it is going to work out. Moving the “bronco” factor down from 50% to 25% and moving the factor from reservations to 2021 allocations was the worst possible scenario for our customers. We are left with 1075 orders converted from reservations currently. I would anticipate being able to fill 10-20% of our reservation count for 2022. That amounts to 120-220 Units depending on how production plays out. We received 11 for 2022 Model Year production start up.

So where do we go from here? Like I said before, our obligation lies with you the customer. So, whether you end up purchasing your Bronco from me or not, I want you to have a great experience and I want you to get your Bronco. So, there are a few things we can do as a store to help increase that allocation number.

What is Granger Ford going to do?

1. Bronco Facility – There is a Bronco facility upgrade that dealerships can opt into. This can increase our 2022 Allocation by 18 total units. We are absolutely going to spend the money and sign up for this.

2. Bronco Sport Sales – 25% of the allocation formula is Bronco Sport sales. We are going to become better at selling Bronco Sports than Broncos. We are now offering 6% under invoice on a Bronco Sport order. We are going to get as creative as possible to shoot this sales number up ASAP. We are going to be relentless in this pursuit. In my mind, this is our biggest opportunity.

3. Share of Nation Sales – This is over a 36-month period, so it’s going to be the hardest number to move. But because of our loyal online following and progressive business model. We have quickly moved up 20+ spots in our region YTD and I anticipate being one of the biggest, if not the biggest, Ford dealer in the state of Iowa for 2022.

4. We are committed to only selling to our reservation holders - 100% of our Broncos delivered have been to our reservation holders. Ford lowered the dealer’s name match standard to 60% because other dealers seem to have trouble making that work. We have it down to a science and will continue to value long-term commitments rather than short term profit.
Ford Bronco Granger Ford -2022 Bronco Allocation - No one said it was going to be easy Jr

5. Discount lock-in – We absolutely are going to honor our pricing agreements with our customers. $1000 under invoice or $2000 under invoice October special. This will not change.

6. Honest Conversations – Over the next 30+ days we are going to have open and honest conversations regarding your reservation and where you stand among our total reservation count. We will do our best to advise you of your best options and talk you through what makes the most sense for you. We are going to have your best interest in mind, regardless of whether you end up purchasing from us.

What can our reservation holders do?

1. Hang in there – No, we’re not going to send you a hammock. But I know there are a collection of our reservation holders that are loyal to us and how we do business. Their patience will be put to the test, but we are going to do our best to give monthly updates on our allocation and progress that we’re making on Bronco deliveries as well as our other goals to increase allocation.

2. Buy a Wrangler/Gladiator at 4% Under Invoice – if you are tired of the Bronco ride, we can offer you a Wrangler/Gladiator purchase at 4% under invoice and have it delivered to our store in 60-90 days. 2022 Wrangler and Gladiator ordering opened yesterday. Email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to send you a quote.

3. Find Another Bronco Dealer – I have confirmed that Ford will allow transferring of reservations/orders. We have heard of ADM horror stories, but there are other dealerships who are treating customers right. While they may not match our discounted pricing, you can make some calls/send some emails to other dealers and see where they stand. If you choose to transfer, you’ll need to call Ford’s customer service line at 1(800)392-3673 and request a transfer.

The next 12 months are going to be a grind and we’re committed to working harder than we have the past 16 months. We are starting to reap the rewards of our labor and by the end of the year, we will have the pleasure of delivering 150+ Broncos to our reservation holders. I don’t want your sympathy. We signed up for this. If anyone deserves your sympathy it is our reservations holders, who in my opinion, only deserve the best. We will keep grinding and we’re not going anywhere. Hey! If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Zach
I’m sticking with Granger, and I am ready to wait for 2023 ❤
