Gauge Cluster Backlighting Auto-adjustment Glitch

2022 Wildtrak Lux w/LED headlights.

I’m having a very annoying issue with my gauge cluster auto-adjusting in transitional periods between light and dark, or if it’s foggy and/or raining. My gauge cluster seems to be over correcting for brightness. I’m thinking my headlights are adjusting also. There’s been times when my gauge backlight setting auto-adjusted 3 times in 3 seconds. I have video of this condition… I did search for similar topics and was surprised to not find anything. If this is a known issue , please direct me to the appropriate thread.

I mentioned it to my dealer and they told me to turn the headlights off. That doesn’t work. The gauges still auto-adjust like crazy. This also isn’t helpful when it’s raining or foggy.

cover the sensor on top of the dashboard with a hat and see
if it behaves the same.

Mine does this at dusk, but switching my lights to off works for me.

Had the same thing when I drove home 6 hours from the dealer in and out of the rain. Turning off the headlights did not help. Very annoying. Another let’s fix something that isn’t broken like the wipers.

Then everything stays in the dimmer setting as if it’s dark outside. Which makes me think the sensor is functioning. But is it possible for the sensor to over function?

This was constantly annoying me when I first got my bronco, and then I stopped noticing it and forgot about it.

Now that I see this thread I am wondering if tinting my windows helped a little since now there is less ambient light inside, or maybe I just got used to it… I’ll have to keep an eye on it and see if it is still happening.

The dash light dimming should be tied to the headlights! Having them dim separately is ridiculous. I guess another of those "Better Ideas", lol!

I’ll have to keep an eye on it and see if it is still happening.

Please do follow up! Tint would be an easy fix.
