Ford performance tune shared between two owners

I have a two door 2.7. My neighbor has a four-door 2.7 and we’re thinking about sharing the Ford performance tune module aside from storing factory settings. Is there anything negative about this has anybody done this?

I don't think it's possible. When you purchase it you have to register it to your VIN number and it can only be used on that vehicle. I've never actually tried to share but my understanding is that it's not possible.

You can share the box, and it will read and clear (some) codes and calibrate the speedometer and such.

But only one vehicle gets the tune. And it will be that one vehicle only and forever - cant uninstall and swap or anything.

great thought @ESWAYBAR, but the perf tune is vin locked

The device gets VIN locked to the vehicle you flashed it with so you're unable to "share" the device to calibrate another vehicle with it. You'll need to purchase a new device to calibrate the other vehicle.
