Hi! I’m new here! I was pleased to learn from my dealer that I had a built week on the 25/04, but then I was surprised that my modular hardtop option had disappeared from my order. My reservation was 14/07/20. I placed the order in jan 21. Ford asked me in April 21 if I wanted to change my hardtop for a softtop or a MIC and I said no. I wasn’t in a hurry and preferred to wait for the modular hardtop in 2023. To my surprise, someone modified my order without my consent and now I have a VIN. You might say, it’s fine, just take the softtop and order a hardtop when available, but I live up-North in Canada. Buying a aftermarket hardtop is more expensive and ordering a MY23 will cost me more. Ford was supposed to freeze the msrp.
Has this happen to others or am I the only one who had his order tampered with so they could get away with offering me a MY22 instead of a MY23 at the price of a MY21?
I ordered race red outer Banks, navy leather, lux, 2.7L, front bumper, tow and modular hardtop.

Your dealer is the one in charge of placing your order. They either made a mistake or did this intentionally. You'll probably have to talk to them. Sadly reaching out to Ford won't do you a lot of good.

Modular hardtops were not available for 2022 - they would have had to 99 it until 2023 model year, IF the modular hardtop will even be available then.

yup only the dealer can make that change. no mod for 22, they were giving early res that kept the mod top 200,000 points, or 1,000 USD, on top of the 42,000 points.. not sure if was the same deal to the neighbors in the north but i would find that and why it changed out.

ngl i'd be pretty pissed.

Dealer wanted that truck to sell this year. Guessing they don’t care if it is to you or someone else. I’ve seen a lot of posts about ‘dealer mistakes’. Funny the mistakes always seem to work to the advantage of the dealerships. Curious…

Yeah they had offered the points at the time, but I refused. A year went by and the just deleted the modular top. I was willing to wait for it.

yeah, i'd go after the dealer and then contact ford. at a minimum i'd want that credit.

i guess worst case could take the credit, flip the vehicle for a substantial profit, and reorder once the banks open.

Nobody asked me to reorder in October 21. I had reserved on 17 july 2020 and the dealer contacted me in January 21 and I submitted my order.

All orders were automatically 99'd during the MY21 to MY22 switch. Dealerships were then supposed to reach out to res holders and confirm the order before resubmitting as a MY22. Sounds like your dealer skipped that step, forgot you were waiting on a MOD top, changed your order to a soft top and resubmitted your order.

However, I am a firm believer in not attributing to malice that which can easily be attributed to stupidity.

Sounds like the dealership did 2 things 1) switched the top on you and 2) changed your priority code to something other than 99/do not build.

It didn't "change from a mod top 99" on its own so............ lol. There's no way your dealer was surprised, they're the one who changed it and ordered it lol.
