First off let me say what an great experience Off Roadeo Moab was. Even if you have done this at another location I would go again to Moab. Other locations are a built courses to show off the Bronco features. MOAB is a natural trail open to the public. They do maintain several locations to show off features when they get torn up.
We were a small group so we covered lots of ground. Us and another couple and our guide. 3 rigs as we followed Scott who was our guide and great guy. We had a WT with SAS, Other couple OBX with SAS so that left Scott with BL and 33's. The BL did everything we did but it just struggles a little more and scrapes and rubs. I never hit or rubbed in the SAS all day. We saw and hit things the big groups don't have time to do. We felt very lucky like winning the lotto. This Mud hole was after the Caves on the way to the big sand hill. Most groups don't get here. I have experience as did the other couple as they currently have Jeep so we moved fast after Scott accessed everyone's skill level. Honestly with SAS you don't need whole lot of skill. The beast will drive over about anything the tires can handle. Anything bigger I am not risking my new rig. There was off camber I would not have tried if alone and did see it run.
Too the mud hole. In Scotts defense he didn't see anyone run it prior. Talking with the group watching the Toyota on 37's- Heavy mods- barely made it before we got there so they were waiting to watch. Scott didn't hit it very hard. He was looking to wheel through using the lockers. He didn't get very far as he was mud surfing quickly. The Yota left some trenches behind. High centered all four tires spinning he was going nowhere. Even disconnecting the sway it was not touching bottom. I required recovery is always good day of wheeling. Got the shiny clean recovery gear nice and muddy
. Pulled him out with the OBX SAS. Had good slack but he didn't hit it hard enough to stretch the thick line so no energy in the tug. It was thick strap. Scotts was going to have him try again but Nick just straight line pulled him out. He actually never even spun a tire pulling him out. Impressive. Goodyears have good bite. So the with the crowd still watching Bronco's needed to up hold there honor. See the next post on SAS vs the waterhole.
Scott never even got muddy, lol. Opened his door and could step out onto dry land. Used the tools which was fun and got a little muddy. Those soft shackles are dope. Already ordered a pair.
