You can’t get a soft top for the 2 door anyway.
Yes, true. I just wanted to chime in, though. I COULD have switched to a 4-door Softy (w/o Tow, Roof Racks, etc.) to get something quicker, but held on to the notion that I wanted what I wanted, not 'close enough'.

I was a Day 1 order for a loaded Badlands 4 door dual tops/lux/tow/2.7/auto/Sasquatch etc. The day I switched my order to a soft top (no other changes) in late October 2021, I was immediately scheduled for production (week of 12/20/21)... The soft top isn't ideal for all situations (and rattles a ton compared to my other convertibles based on the Drive the Bronco event and there isn't a headliner either so you see all the bows etc.), so I still want a painted hardtop. My wife is not a fan of the MIC hard top so we will wait for a painted one someday. I dread the shipping cost of that (vs. getting the MIC out the gate and buying a Bestop soft top over the counter, etc.).

So after having the same nice long wait that many of you have had, I finally caved in and changed my order to a soft top. Ford gave me time to think, and that I did.

I figured if I was going to change to a soft top I might as well take care of anything else that I was on the fence about. That lead me down a rabbit hole and now I've done a complete 180 on my build. Went from a heavily constrained Wildtrak hardtop down to a pretty plain Jane mansquatch Big Bend. Best part of the decision was while on the phone with my dealer I was told my new build combined w/ my early timestamp should get the truck to me much much sooner. I know the implications of "my dealer said", but it's still nice to hear it from them.

Anybody else make the convert to a soft top, if so was it worth it? If anyone made the change and pulled constraints, did you receive a build date quick afterwards?

Not looking for a crystal ball with my build date, just looking to see what other's experiences have been.
Wildtrak also. Drove a V-6 auto in the Rodeo. Due to all the constraints ordered Badlands 2.3 manual soft. Soft is louder but I have received compliments on soft from non-Bronco folks. Power is more than adequte . (Iother car is a V 10) No regrets honestly, and I know I would not be driving a Bronco if I hadn't switched Good luck in your decision.

I'll agree and be a bit of a snob while I'm at it, compromising on options is what you do when you need a vehicle off a lot today. I ordered my 2 series since I couldn't find one in the state with the options I desired, and was happy to wait to get what I wanted, especially on a decently expensive (for me) vehicle. No difference here, save for the timeframe.

I would like to thank all who dropped constrained options. 1/31 build week for my Badlands 2.7, mic, squatch, tow, lux!

I have a two door, so I'm SOL on switching from hard to soft. Lowkey wish they'd approve a new contract to Bestop or something for soft tops or something from Ford (have a hard time believing Ford has no 2D soft top model drawings made to date).

However, off topic, I will absolutely not change my engine for the sake of getting it quicker. It's not like I can buy a 2.7L from the factory (well, I guess I could) with high feasibility, then do an engine swap myself. I guess some dont mind the 2.3L, but since I plan to drive the vehicle for its full length, I can't budge on that.

Manual transmission was the only reason I chose the 2.3. If they mated the 7spd to the 2.7 I (and many others) would be on that like a fly on a :poop:

If I don't get my 2dr scheduled by March, I'm probably going to cave and go 4dr soft top :/

I caved as well, just before Thanksgiving. After driving both, I feel much better about the soft top. Still don’t have a build date, but have “only” been waiting a year, unlike so many others with a July reservation.

Can't... 1) 2-door; 2) adding a roof-top-tent.

I was fairly set on a hard top, even if it meant a longer wait, when I went in mid-October to order my Badlands. At that point, my dealer advised me that in his estimation, holding out for a hard top was likely to add half a year to my wait, pushing me to near the end of 2022 as opposed to about June-ish of 2022. After test-driving a Wildtrak that had a soft top, I decided that I could live with the soft top.

As I hear about the continued problems with the MIC top, even the 2.0 version, it's sounding more and more like, for any reasons I would have wanted a hard top, the stock soft top is at least as good anyway. At this point, my only concern about the soft top is long-term durability.

I think it most likely that if I do end up eventually getting a hard top, it will be from the aftermarket. I'll have to watch to see what the aftermarket comes up with, but at this point, I am not at all optimistic about there ever being a very satisfactory hard top from Ford, at least not before someone in the aftermarket comes out with something much better, for a lower price.

I caved and switched my original order to a soft-top a couple weeks ago ( wish I’d gone ahead and done it when Antimatter Blue was still a possibility).
mom the same day, I got back in line with a second order, with MIC top.
Both are OBX, SAS, Lux, Leather, one black, one silver.
