Anybody running this half rack from EZ4X4 ?

https://www.ez4x4.com/collections/ford-bronco-6th-gen/products/ez4x4-bronco-roof-rack

Looks like it allows you to lock the 4 door middle section roof panel onto the rear rack. Would be nice to strap the 2 front panels in the cargo area and lock the middle panel to the rack. Nice to not have to find room inside for the middle panel but still have it with you.

Here it is with the roof panel locked in (there is a video showing it sliding onto the rack and locking it down).

For those that don't remove the rear clamshell not a bad idea for storing the mid panel but not sure I'd be onboard w/ hinging the front panels to the mid panel...asking for trouble IMO.

Yeah, not keen on the flip top but looks like the rack will hold/secure the mid panel even if you don't have the EZ flip panels.

Appreciate the feedback! The Flip Top is designed to provide a quick and easy way to open up the roof while maintaining durability and security. The front panels hinge to the mid-panel using a reinforced design and are secured with 3M™ Automotive VHB Tape, ensuring a strong and durable bond. We also include 3M94™ Adhesion Promoter, which significantly increases tensile strength, so there’s no compromise in stability—even in rough conditions.

For those who prefer extra reinforcement, we also include a bolt kit if you wish to bolt down the Flip Top for additional security.

That said, we understand it may not be for everyone, and that’s why the rack was designed to securely hold the mid-panel even if you don’t have the Flip Top panels. It’s all about giving Bronco owners more flexibility with their setup. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Can anyone share pictures of how the center roof section mounts to the rack? I would love a way to carry that panel with but I'm not going to spend $500 on it if it doesn't do a great job securing the top. The video on EZ4X4's website shows a small tab sliding over?

I don't have pictures to share as I just ordered the 1/2 rack today. The ability to store the middle panel is a huge reason. But recent videos show clips to slide into in the back of the rack and then a place to use the existing roof clamps to secure it to the rack. Looks pretty solid and I haven't seen a review below 4 stars and almost all are 5-star.

When your tinnitus needs some competition on the freeway....
The cool thing about the roof rack is the ability to rapidly switch from open roof to closed if you are going to be doing highway driving.

Let us know if you have any other questions!
How much height does just the half rack add to the roof height?
And how much height does the half rack with just the mid panel clipped to the rack add to the roof height?
Thanks.

I'll measure with the middle panel on the rack after I get it installed. But the website claims the rack weighs 32.5 lbs. and adds 3.3 inches in height. Since the middle panel rests on the roof rack, my guess is the total added height is around 4 inches.

Worth noting, EZ4x4 also selss a hinge system for the front panels so you can flip the two front panels onto the middle panel for immediate open air driving. Then, if desired, you can also slide the middle panel to the roof rack (with the front panels still flipped onto the middle panel) and drive on with the Bronco's cabin completely open. It seems like a well thought out system for people that want the ability to go from closed roof to open roof, quickly and easily.

I chose to only get the roof rack with the ability to put the middle panel on the roof (not the front panels too). I have found the middle panel was the biggest impediment to my opening up the Bronco's roof as there is nowhere to resonably store the middle panel on the Bronco and if you get caught out in weather without that panel, you can't put the roof back together. This system solves that for me - at least I think it will when I put it in in the next 1-2 weeks. Now I can put the two front panels in bags in the back of the Bronco, put the middle panel on top of the roof rack, and remove my rear windows too. Easy to go from open to enclosed in a few minutes on the rood. I am hoping this solution is as good as it looks. The reviews are very good. Fingers crossed. The photos below were my inpsiration - note the REB has the full system with hinges for the front panels.

Mid section is rock solid. Doing 75 no problem.

Has anyone used it for a cooler or luggage carrier? How does it do. How do u strap it down? Just curious, have not seen anyone use it as a roof rack. Just a mid section holder.

I haven't used it to store gear. But it set up to be able to do so. There are grooves in the slats to secure tiedowns. I think it can hold 200 pounds but I would have to double check the website stats to be sure. It is absolutely able to secure gear. I attached a (not great) photo to show teh slats on my roof rack and then someone else's roof rack with flip top hinges to give you perspective.

Love my EZ 4x4 rack solution. I didn't go with the flip top and I don't think I will. That adds versatility - and people love them - but then the front panels are always attached to the middle panel. Might be great for most people but for me, the 1/2 rack is perfect. My front panels go in a bag in the back. Middle panel slides up super easy and is well secured. I can go from enclosed to wide open in 5-10 minutes working casually and alone. No more worries about getting caught in teh rain with roof panels at home. Awesome versatility. Well designed. Highly recommend.
