I guess i can be serious for once. 4 and 6 cylinders can sound alright, 6 is a bit more exotic/sporty sounding and generally sound much better than the 4’s. I had one on my 2013 V6 camaro, it was okay until I cut off the resonators for more sound.? Then it was raspy and sounded like ass at WOT, I did not like that.

With that said, with exhaust you have to know when is when. Your 4/6 will NEVER sound like a V8, it will never rumble. Louder is not better, it’s worse, much, much, much worse. If you stick to designed exhausts by Borla, Flowmaster etc they take this into account and design something that will make the exhaust sound pleasant while being a bit louder than stock, that’s your sweet spot. I have heard V8’s that sound like crap too, people take those too far and think you can just cut it all off and it’s just a loud, obnoxious mess. Don’t cut your exhaust up, don’t cut off the mufflers, cats or resonators. If you’re not going to buy an exhaust system designed for this car, leave it alone, you will regret it. If you don’t, everyone else will because it will not sound good.

Too often people equate sound= Good. On 4/6 cylinder engines you go from stock to that obnoxious ass Civic or Integra you hear driving through your neighborhood at 10PM every Saturday night. The one that sounds like someone is farting into a tin can while lighting off a firecracker.

Please don’t be that guy. Or girl. I don’t care how great the 17 year old on YouTube says it sounds.

With that said, best bet is helmholtz style. Probably solo performance.
I totally agree.

In my community, there are several Infiniti sedans that are piloted by high schoolers competing for the loudest and most obnoxious exhaust. It seems to be a thing...

Pumps exhaust sound in through your speakers? I’ll have to look that one up.
Pretty much every car made these days has this feature weather you want it or not.

Haha yep! It’s all over Colorado now. They drive past me in my Challenger and rev their fart cans and I just laugh.

Come on now... that's a completely different sound category.
But they're BOTH going to be using turbo 4s and v6s, hell, they even have the same kind of motorized shutters for the engine.

And given how awful and thrashy such an engine can sound, I'd rather go with Macan GTS sound--since you're never going to get a V8 burble out of one of these.

Yeah, I don't know. I've been around Porsche's my whole life (I've never owned one but my Dad has had several).

I LOVE the sound of the Porsche turbo-charged V6 (only Ferrari sound tops it IMO) and it's just not like anything else... especially not a Ford engine.

Oh for sure. But Porsche is an anomaly, that’s an exceptionally built and engineered car. It’s engineered to sound a certain way and tuned for that, like a WRX STI is. These don’t have that level of development so they will definitely sound like crap in comparison. I think it was Ferrari that said they were looking into EV but they hadn’t found a combo that worked for them. They tried a V6 but they couldn’t get their signature exhaust note.

Yeah, Porsche sound is an anomaly for sure. I guess that's why it sounds good to me.

I mean, here is a little bit of a comparison I found on youtube (if that isn't the same engine we are talking about let me know and I will correct it for comparison):

Ford 2.7L V6

Porsche Macan 3.0 V6

I have to disagree. I rumble every day. Mine is a little cleaner and meaner sounding with a catless downpipe and tuned for more power than this one but it's the same titanium exhaust.

Porsche is also a boxer engine which is why it doesn't sound like a V6. However, I believe the SUV's are not; Might be Audi.

The Porsche sounds good but it lacks that deep rumble of a V8, but there’s nothing wrong with that sound.

You mentioned the 1 car I put in my post as an anomaly. Subaru’s are tuned with unequal length headers and that’s why they sound the way they do. Everyone loves how WRX’s sound but anyone that knows about cars would easily be able to tell your car isn’t a V8. I can spot an STI Subaru from a mile away with that sound. My best friend has a 2005 STI that’s been completely rebuilt and over hauled in every way and it’s wicked fast. We both agree while his sounds good it will never sound like my Challenger with headers. It’s not a bad thing, the rumble just isn’t the same. Your car sounds good though, definitely one of the best sounds of any car I can remember.

I honestly don’t care. I sold my T/A 392 Challenger to buy a Bronco and still have my ‘72 Nova. The bronco can be completely silent and I’ll be perfectly happy. If I want to hear a nice engine, I’ll fire up the nearly 50 year old car that will be parked next to it. I don’t look at the bronco as “that” kind of vehicle.

Fast forward to 2:00 and listen as he rides up the hill. That’s the sound I’m wondering if we will all have or is that just sound efffects? Personally I like quiet vehicles but would be okay with a little growl.

Stock, hell no but that's also every vehicle nowadays. If you get a system for it then it sounds pretty good.
