Yeah, I don't know. I've been around Porsche's my whole life (I've never owned one but my Dad has had several).

I LOVE the sound of the Porsche turbo-charged V6 (only Ferrari sound tops it IMO) and it's just not like anything else... especially not a Ford engine.
Porsche engines are flat, not Vs.

The Macan is a V6 (unless you get the base 4 cyl)
I guess that makes 2 reasons it's not a real Porsche?

There are much better sounding Porsches, and they're flat. And not a crossover.

Dude.

I'm taking it you are some kind of old school purist. You must really hate the Taycan, lol.

Not really. Just yanking your chain a bit.

I do like oddball engineering though. I love boxers and Wankels because I find it cool to do something different and make it work, well mostly. Nothing sounds like a rotary at 10k rpms. Except maybe a 2-stroke on the pipe.

Post war Axis nations shared a bit during their rebuilding. Which is why Porsches (real ones) and Subarus have boxers and Mazda has used Wankels.

I'm kind of surprised Mazda gave up on it but yes, it was a bit oddball.

By the way, if you ever have a chance to drive a Macan S or higher trim (with the twin-turbo V6), do it. It is eye opening. They are bad ass little machines.

Stock, hell no but that's also every vehicle nowadays. If you get a system for it then it sounds pretty good.
My SS sedan sounds amazing from factory. If you buy vehicles with crappy engines then yea the automakers are going to quiet them down so someone will buy them.

High Flow Cats and Catless pipes change the note

You mentioned the 1 car I put in my post as an anomaly. Subaru’s are tuned with unequal length headers and that’s why they sound the way they do. Everyone loves how WRX’s sound but anyone that knows about cars would easily be able to tell your car isn’t a V8. I can spot an STI Subaru from a mile away with that sound. My best friend has a 2005 STI that’s been completely rebuilt and over hauled in every way and it’s wicked fast. We both agree while his sounds good it will never sound like my Challenger with headers. It’s not a bad thing, the rumble just isn’t the same. Your car sounds good though, definitely one of the best sounds of any car I can remember.
Yeah I know. I just had to single at that one line. Haha

Sometimes I really miss the sound of my old '69 Camaro and the instant savage torque. But anything other than a straight line and my STI will walk away from that Camaro any day. It's not so bad with newer muscle cars. I'm actually surprised how well Challengers can do these days with someone who doesn't treat the gas pedal like an On/Off switch. I rode in a Hellcat a while back and holy crap...

Dude.

He's not entirely wrong. The Macan uses an Audi engine.

Apex seals are a bitch, but the rotary killer is emmisions standards. There's been rumors that Mazda might do a hybrid setup with a rotary generator as they seem to do better with static loads.

I'd gladly take the chance. My wife has been caught drooling over them at stoplights. I'll bet they are nice.

As a kid we would race in Philly on the weekends..guys would show up with rotary Mazdas and have 4 guys hold the back end up while it revs to 10K rpm’s and then the dropped it. Pretty fast and loud. Lots of breakage too

Our Macon turbo sounds fantastic for a V6. I don’t think any exhaust for a bronco will sound as good as it.

Am I correct in thinking that the Bronco will have a pretty sweet exhaust sound? Or is that only with the 2.7 engine.
If by sweet, you mean sounds like a dying 20 year old mail truck, sure. If that’s not what you meant, there are no broncos made in 2021 or 22 that don’t sound like hot garbage.
