Ok, so apparently the dealership noted an exhaust on mine and assumed I did it when I installed my PPE transmission pan (assumed I removed the exhaust pipe to get it to fit). But, I didn’t touch the exhaust pipe whatsoever. So, a little skeptical of the diagnosis, I went looking where they say it’s at, and sure enough, I see it. There is a small area of black residue coming out of this joint that is on the driver’s side next to the transmission pan. I don’t know enough about exhaust pipes to know if this clamp looks defective, loose, improperly installed or normal. Looks improperly installed to my untrained eye and bent. Any of you guys ever have this happen? I’m assuming not a big deal to fix. To be honest, the car doesn’t sound any different to me since day 1 (6,300 miles ago), but apparently the dealership tech noticed how loud it was. Thanks!!

It looks like the clamp is loose or the 2 pipes are seated improperly. Either way it should be an easy fix. Loosen the clamp and make sure they are seated than reclamp.

I just looked at mine and it looks the same. You could check to see if you can tighten it a little, it might be an old leak that has already sealed up.

I’m not convinced it is even broken, and instead on some fee hunting expedition. Was told this morning that Ford won’t honor a warranty claim, suggesting that when I raised the transmission an inch to install the PPE pan, it likely flexed it and caused it. How? I have no idea, considering the exhaust isn’t remotely connected to the transmission in general. Also begs the question - how do you change the transmission mount in general without lifting up the transmission off of it in the first place?
They wanted a bunch of pictures, and likely a few days in the shop. I call BS on the whole thing. I’ll reset it myself, or just take it over to my trusted indi that has been maintaining our German cars for the last 8 years flawlessly and slip them a $50 to do it, if I decide I just don’t want to be on a cold garage floor this weekend.
Dealerships…. Life’s just too damn short sometimes…. I’m not pointing that at just Ford. All of them, are annoying and usually where I’ve had the worst quality and experience when it comes to repairs and maintenance. Oddly enough, the only one that has treated me exceptionally well over the years, is VW! All of the others, just a PIA…
