Quick fix for the passenger floor mat to keep it from lifting with the doors off.

This is a easy diy mod taking around 15 minutes. Requires 1 snap kit with the back screw snap, drill with 1/4” bit and a smaller than 1/4” bit.

Leave the passenger mat in place. Take your small drill bit and make 2 holes through the mat and into the plastic. Try not to go through the plastic. We have some wires somewhere behind there.

Pull the passenger mat and passenger kick panel out.

Screw the 2 snaps into the witness marks you left on the kick panel. Trim off the excess thread from the back so we don’t have any extra with pointy edges.

Open the holes in the mat up to 1/4”
Add a pair of snaps into the floor mat. You can use snap pliers (will have to order) or the hammer and punch set that comes with it.

Put the kick panel and floor mat back in and that’s it.

I ran up to 90 yesterday with door and top off (2 door). Mat never lifted. Trying today with top on and doors off.

These are the larger snaps. The pliers are for the larger snaps also. If you get the smaller snaps these pliers won’t work. As stated the pliers are not a need. Just help for a easier install.

I haven’t had the rubber mats try to leave yet but the carpet ones yeah they levitate about 50mph. This is a nice precaution 👍

I was considering just using velcro strips for this and the rear mats, but this looks good too.
I may do the rears. My idea for those were still using the screw in snaps but a small piece of wood backer to screw them into. That mat feels to be 3/4 to a inch thick and squishy. Will also be doing the rear cargo area for the dogs cushion.

I had to do something. I was worried about causing a accident trying to grab the mat leaving or causing a accident when the mat accidentally hits the car behind me. No more anxiety over the mat now. lol.

Okay. It’s confirmed. Passenger mat stays in with just the 2 snaps. That was with roof and doors off, then roof on doors off. Up to 90 with the roof/doors off, 101 with the doors off.
