For those that have installed the Diode Dynamics Rock lights, how did you end up mounting them if you placed one behind the front tire and in front of the rear tire along the side of the vehicle? Did you use the magnetic mounts or some other mount?

I have the set of 8 installed. Two in the front, back and on each side. I didn’t mount in wheel well - too much shadow and not useful as rock lighting. I used a combo or magnetic mounts and home made brackets to get them in the right places.

I made two different brackets from Home Depot parts - one for front two lights and one for side rear two lights. The other four are magnet mounted.

I'd really like to know as well.
I mounted two on the front, under the crash bar bracket. First pic. I mounted two on each side, the front side one is magnetic to the frame just behind the front wheel. The second is near the rear wheel on a home made mount. That’s the second pic.

Just tried to replicate this solution. The rear side mount is easy enough, just your bog standard L-bracket with a long enough bolt, a wide enough washer on the other side of the frame, and a nylon stop nut to secure it.

The front one is much harder to replicate with off the shelf parts. Both Ace Hardware and Home Depot had nothing like that J-shaped piece in the first pic, which leads me to believe that you modified some pieces. Did you take an L-bracket or something and bend and cut it?

REVEAL YOUR SECRETS, MY DUDE (please)!

I think I just bent an L bracket to make the J shape.

the reason I went through so much trouble positioning them was together full coverage with minimal shadows.

Yeah that seemed pretty apparent. I tried the DV8 crash bar end caps and the logical mount point with those would have cast a huge shadow with the modular bumper.

Did you use some kind of bending brake on the brackets or just a vise and rage?

Nice work, you can also just use a 1/4 20 tap to drill the frame. Its thick enough to just be able
to screw into it and not have to worry about having to use nuts.

I do wonder if the magnetic mount is strong enough to just attach here:

I wonder that as well. I tested it with a magnetic tool retriever and that made a pretty strong hold. I may have to use a magnetic mount after all if I can’t figure out how to attach the equivalent of this improvised solution on the passenger side. The gas tank is absolutely in the way and prevents me from inserting the bolt into the frame…

Trying to find an open carriage washer so I could slot a carriage bolt onto it on the gas tank side, but its definitely not something that is readily available and I lack the necessary tools to fabricate one.
