Did my first oil change on the Bronco (2023 SAS OBX). When I removed the oil filter housing the pink o-rings caught my attention. When replacing the o-rings I noticed that they were deteriorating. See the attached pictures. 40 years of oil changes on my personal vehicles and I have never seen this before.
I've seen it in industry when the wrong type of o-ring is used in a system. A Chemical miss-match. I don't know what these o-rings were made of, but they should not be used with oil.
The new o-rings that came with the new Motorcraft brand filter are green in color. Again, don't know what they are made of. Hope they hold up to oil !!!
Has anyone seen this on their Broncos?
Is there a service bulletin that I'm not aware of?
