DEPLOYING AND NEED ADVICE

Reservation holder since July21st here. I recently got orders to deploy overseas for about 10-12mo from May2021.
I still want my bronco more than ever! But I'm wondering if I can still place my order in January and have it so my Bronco is delivered when I return (Mar2022) time or later? What would happen if it is delivered before I return? Is it worth holding onto or placing order this January?
FWIW I want to order a 4dr Black Badlands Sasquatch Lux and also will wait as long as needed for the shadow black top and pullout tail gate. So that should help extend my delivery. But I am not sure if it will come before I return and what my options would be if it was delivered before I return.. Any insight or thoughts would be helpful. Also, I do want to custom order so I would not be happy if I had to cancel my reservation and completely lose my Bronco order.

WOW, the support and advice from everyone is overwhelmingly kind and informative to sat the least! Seriously, thank you so much to all the responses! While I cannot say where ill be going due to OPSEC, I will be in support of combat areas and not necessarily in a direct region. I have 10yrs under my belt and love what I do! Again thank you all so much for the support!

1. Obviously I'm going to sit down with @EricAtKearnyMesaFord this is my dealer and see what he proposes. I like that it was mentioned to wait to the last minute to place the order so Ill ask when that is.
2. Special POA is a great idea and I will consider this with a friend I can trust to pick up and act on my behalf. I do have a safe parking spot at my residence that the vehicle could sit until I return.
3. TBH, after reading everyone's advice, I have a good feeling that ill be able to order my Bronco and have it ready for me when I return. Just to be clear, I am def not opposed to getting a 22MY Bronco as long as I don't have to cancel my reservation. I do not want dealer stock and I already am suppose to get a good deal as long as I order through my reservation.

Ill update the post as I get more information from the dealer and a plan of action is set in place.

If you are going into harm's way, God bless you, and have a chat with your dealer. If you are being deployed to an area with a nearby PX/NX, perhaps you can change your reservation to them...

Order in early March (before order deadline). By then, your dealer may have an approximate build time estimate. Your order should placed be on 'hold' in any case due to late availability options. By May you'll have Ford's estimated build date. If it is too early for you, your dealer may be able to hold your order longer than it would be because of late options alone. Nothing is set in stone until Ford issues your VIN # and the vehicle should be produced 3-4 weeks after that.

Best thing is to communicate all this to your dealer in the near future. If they are good, they should be able to work with your to get you what you want when you want it. Being on active military deployment, I'd imagine the dealer will bend over backwards to help you.

You could get a power of attorney if you trust someone to pick up the Bronco for you until you get back. Outside of that you're wanting a May '22 delivery and no one knows for certain when deliveries will be scheduled or what will cause delays and make it a '22. If you have a dealer that's knowledgeable give them a call or try Granger in Iowa and they might be able to steer you in a good direction.

Not sure how helpful my advice is but if your Bronco comes and your are still Deployed, depending on when it comes maybe the dealer would hold it on their lot for you until you returned, if they are nice enough. However they may not want to keep it around for months on end. If not do you have some one that can pick it up for you? The dealer should be able to mail you all the paperwork to have signed and have you send it back. A bit of a process but I would think doable. I’d definitely have a conversation with your dealer and see what they say. Hopefully they give you some leeway for serving our country.

Go down to your legal department and get a SPECIAL Power of Attorney, make sure it spells out exactly what you want to allow the assigned person to due. Then contact your dealer and make sure he will except the Power of Attorney. Make sure this person is trust worthy, Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister always was my first choice when a young Marine.

Thanks for your service and stay safe out there OP. I’d say first call would be to your dealer, second call would be to a storage facility. If the delivery is before you’re stateside again, set it up so someone can get it into a safe, locked and covered storage unit with a combination lock you’ve got the combo for and have your friend put your name on paperwork for the unit as well. You should be able to handle payment for storage online and a lot of places will do first month free (may be different for auto storage though I’m not sure). Come to think of it, it’s probably worth asking your dealer if they’ve ever done anything like this and maybe they’d be able to deliver it to storage for you so no one who isn’t selling you your brand new Bronco gets to drive it before you! Heck I bet they could even mail you your keys.

If you want a 2021 model get power of attorney. My brother has bought a house, truck, 2 cars and a motorcycle in the US while working as a contractor in Dubai. He paid for a bunch of this stuff for almost a year before ever seeing it. I even have one of the C7 Corvettes in my garage since August.

I personally would wait until I got home and got a 2022 model. It will have more options, probably more colors, probably better interior and less bugs.
