Reservation holder since July21st here. I recently got orders to deploy overseas for about 10-12mo from May2021.
I still want my bronco more than ever! But I'm wondering if I can still place my order in January and have it so my Bronco is delivered when I return (Mar2022) time or later? What would happen if it is delivered before I return? Is it worth holding onto or placing order this January?
FWIW I want to order a 4dr Black Badlands Sasquatch Lux and also will wait as long as needed for the shadow black top and pullout tail gate. So that should help extend my delivery. But I am not sure if it will come before I return and what my options would be if it was delivered before I return.. Any insight or thoughts would be helpful. Also, I do want to custom order so I would not be happy if I had to cancel my reservation and completely lose my Bronco order.

***UPDATE 30DEC2020

WOW, the support and advice from everyone is overwhelmingly kind and informative to sat the least! Seriously, thank you so much to all the responses! While I cannot say where ill be going due to OPSEC, I will be in support of combat areas and not necessarily in a direct region. I have 10yrs under my belt and love what I do! Again thank you all so much for the support!

1. Obviously I'm going to sit down with @EricAtKearnyMesaFord this is my dealer and see what he proposes. I like that it was mentioned to wait to the last minute to place the order so Ill ask when that is.
2. Special POA is a great idea and I will consider this with a friend I can trust to pick up and act on my behalf. I do have a safe parking spot at my residence that the vehicle could sit until I return.
3. TBH, after reading everyone's advice, I have a good feeling that ill be able to order my Bronco and have it ready for me when I return. Just to be clear, I am def not opposed to getting a 22MY Bronco as long as I don't have to cancel my reservation. I do not want dealer stock and I already am suppose to get a good deal as long as I order through my reservation.

Ill update the post as I get more information from the dealer and a plan of action is set in place.

First of all, thank you for your service!! ?? We will figure out a solution for you. I am already working with other deploying service members in similar situations to yours. I can tell you that the best solution for both of us would be if someone with POA could take delivery of the Bronco for you. I'm open to other options also though. Please reach out to me sometime this week so we can put a plan together sooner than later.

**EDIT** Just saw your note about waiting until the last moment to place the order. That strategy wouldn't affect your delivery date FYI. There won't be any priority given based on WHEN the order is placed during the order period.

Sure, but I hope that if Ford Corporate reached out to your dealership, looking to arrange some sort of positive PR event, you'd be smart enough to take them up on the opportunity.
thats a nice thought but just as likely as the bronco getting released on time, if only....

The drawbacks of purchasing your Bronco much before you return:

1) You are using up warranty without getting use out of your vehicle
2) Gas aging in your tank, battery depleting
3) You will need to insure it while not using it
4) General storage/safety/potential damage/theft issues
5) Potential availability of configurations/options for MY22 that you would have wanted but were not available for MY21

See if your dealer can get any info on what option(s) are most likely to push back your build as far as possible. The painted hardtop is one good option. Maybe you put some of those on the order to push back the date and then further down the road you can take them off. This might require some coordination with your dealer to make sure you don't get a VIN before you have a chance to remove something you don't want.

I'm thinking the best bet might be to have your dealer work through his contacts with Ford to see about deliberately pushing you down on the build priority list. I don't know if this is a feasible idea, but it wouldn't be technically difficult. Pushing your time stamp to say mid-August could put the delivery close enough to your return that it would be more manageable.

Already covered, but deployed people buy cars, homes, etc. all the time. Easy, peasy. POAs are easy and almost every business has allowances for them. Plus, even down range internet is for the most part available.

Also, deployed people store vehicles every day with no issues. Again, nothing new. As long as you don’t leave it in the barracks parking lot for 12 months you will be fine.

Insure it through USAA and they’ll help you out with several issues. If the POA is confusing, see your local JAG office.
