Hello,
Have been a lurker here since day 1 and a member for a couple years.

Got a 4 door a few weeks ago. Hard top. I have noticed in the back behind the drivers side window the hard top has some fine spidering cracks, or “crazing” the same as what a bunch of other people have experienced. I have no picture right now.
It is not as bad as some I have seen, with large fissures or separations, but it is there.

I noticed this a couple weeks ago and have been mulling over what to do.
What I do NOT have is leaking, rattles, or inordinate wind noise currently, which makes the point of this post.

I have read all the posts regarding this issue, and the trials and tribulations with other poor folks getting stiffed with replacement tops that are worse, honeycombing, misalignment, worse cracking, etc.
I understand this is warrantable.
Do I live with the (admittedly) small amount of cracking, and be happy with the other issues I don’t have or roll the dice and try to get another top.
I know this is my decision. And a disappointing one to have to make.

Tossed this around in my head as well. But with mine only being on the road for 6 months (yours only being weeks), I can only imagine it's going to get worse. Keep in mind, even if hairline, the tops internals (cardboard) are now exposed to moisture. It should be made right, and if worse, they get to retry until they get it right.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of techs being around the panels of my car, the fart and scratch interior, the fragile power train, more than they need to be. But there's always something with this car, and apparently, will always be.

In the end, warranty approved for my top. Waiting for it to come in, so they can see if the sound deadening came with it (order that if not), pop the windows out and put them in the replacement, and hope for the best. Queue the circus music, again.

I don’t blame you for being hesitant about a replacement top on a brand new truck. The top is covered 3/36, I would wait for a while and see what happens with the cracks. When they get bad enough that you can’t live with them anymore, go for a replacement top.
