My 22 Bronco Raptor is sporting a new interior growing windshield crack coming off the rear view mirror horizontally on the passenger side now about 4” long- oddly it not visible from the outside.

Query: has anyone with Braptor experienced a similar problem?

Is there any cool solution with exterior windshield film (lightly tinted)that will help prevent cracks in the future?

PS the photo is not that great, but you can see the light bubbles

If it's cracked from the inside and there doesn't seem to be anything on the outside I'd try to warranty it

What a great idea my dealer is looking into this. The design seems like an accident waiting to happen. This could’ve been just a rough road internal bounce.

In regards to your question about a windshield film, I believe there are some out there but I've heard conflicting things about how they hold up overtime and how there are some downsides like glare, haziness, etc.

A lot of people have also installed hood deflectors that let the airflow push light debris away from your windshield, but I'm not sure how much it'll do against rocks capable of breaking your windshield

I'm Probably "Jinxing" myself by saying this but, I had 2 cracked windshields in the first 6 months I installed the Ford aeroskin hood deflector and well 15K miles later still no dings or cracks!!

I'm also using the Ford aeroskin deflector and notice far less bugs and other debris hitting the windshield.

Do they make one that fits the Raptor? On the Ford site, it says "will not fit Raptor"?

Details
These black textured protectors act like an extra skin for your hood and the lip at the back of the protector helps deflect stones and debris up and over the windshield.
  • Helps provide added protection against scratches and dings
  • Low-profile, aerodynamic appearance
  • Complements other Trail Armor accessories
  • Not for use with Bronco Raptor models

Many people don’t realize that a windshield ding (before it develops into a crack) can be filled by an auto glass shop and extend the windshield life. Cost is about $30.

And yes the Bronco windshield is susceptible to dings as it’s so vertical. I got the first within 2 weeks. Got it filled. It’s fine 8 months/14k miles later. I have several filled dings on a Highlander windshield that’s lasted for years.
