The filter element is twice the size of the stock air filter, which is why you need the bigger top.

The larger filter allows for more surface area, not only for more filtration but for more air.

Then the quality of the filter element is much better than Ford's OEM.

The only issues I have with the Cobb and Rouche, maybe others are that they do not replace the plumbing in the system, and that is where the actual issue is. The piping to the turbos on the OEM system is restrictive and small. Without replacing it, I feel you are not getting the most you can from the system.

This is the reason I went with Injen, because on their system, all of the plumbing was replaced all the way down to the turbos. With my charge pipes installed, the entire system breaths and there is a difference in performance. One you can hear and feel.

That's just my take on it.
