Over the years of owning many different vehicles, I have had my fair share of paint chips (not scratches). I have tried factory paint pens, after market etc. What I find with each of these styles is the cost to touch up a little spot. Then it never seems to flatten out right.

So after a few test with other things, I found nail polish works best for me. I go to Dollar Tree, and select several colors that are close to my vehicle, I then ask the casher if I leave 5 bucks sitting here can I take these outside and see which one matches the best. I come back in pay for it (yes I get my 5 bucks back).

Nail polish is basically a lacquer paint, you can apply it to the spot, let it dry completely, the use a touch of acetone (not soaking wet) to level it out and blend it into the surrounding area.

For black paint I use a sharpie.

Try it, also nail polish is great for marking bolts to see if they are backing out.
