I had all the paint forward of the windshield and the headlights protected with PPF. They also treated the entire vehicle with ceramic coating. Per their request I brought it back in a week later so they could inspect the PPF for any flaws. They also did the ceramic coating again. That was about 4 months ago and my Bronco is outside all the time. The MIC top still beads up water.

Well I took a chance an had mine Ceramic coated along with the rest of the vehicle, but mine is only 5 months old, so only time will tell.
Mine is scheduled for next week to get System X Ceramic coating. How does your top look?

From the replies so far it appears that while a ceramic coat may not damage the MIP top. It also doesn't do much good as it doesn't last as well as ceramic on paint. Only MotoFish has found it worthwhile.

I've decided to ask my detailer for the SDS for the ceramic coating they're using. If I don't see solvents that attack might attack the top then I'll let him apply it, otherwise I'll pass on it. I'll also ask if I can smell it.
Please keep us all posted as to what you decide to do. Since new, I coat my MIC top twice a year with Cerakote trim and it is absolutely amazing at keeping the water beading on my MIC. I use this stuff on all of my black trim. The best out there.

PIcked up my Bronco after ceramic coating. I'm extremely pleased. It came with a six year warranty. I decided to have the top ceramic coated. Ford is concerned with solvents such as alcohol, acetone, chlorinated hydrocarbons (brake or carburator cleaners). The SDS showed one ingredient with a name about an inch and a halve long. I saw PTFE and hexane and lots of other that didn't ring any bells. Anyway I figured since it's an extremely thin wet film that it couldn't do much damage.

It cost me $1380 from Bob Moses. They do a lot of RVs. They also gave me a pint of spray cleaner which I should spray on bird dropping or bug splats then wipe with a microfiber towel. They get theirs from Costco. They also gave me a quart of cleaner to use with a foam cannon. Both products are made by the company that makes the ceramic coating. They took about 30 minutes to make sure I understood proper care.

Many get ceramic coatings for appearance. I got it so it's easier to keep my Bronco clean. Mission accomplished. They suggest carrying the spray bottle and a towel in the Bronco. Then hit bird droppings or bug splats as soon as I notice them. None of them stick.

PTFE is Teflon and hexane a hydrocarbon solvent used in gasoline as well as other applications. Hexane is not as aggressive as acetone (a ketone) or chlorinated hydrocarbons but can be an issue with some materials.
