So my thinking is that having a reservation isn't going to do much for people. I believe it is to gauge interest on how many they expect to sell so they can figure out how many they need to make. Ford probably isn't going to fill reservations before sending each dealer at least a couple Broncos to have on the lot for people to come in to see. By only making reservations that limits the amount of people that have the ability to come look and cross shop. If a dealer does get one it won't last long I am sure but only filling reservations I don't see happening.

I ordered my GT500 the week of reveal. I am still waiting for a VIN and build date. Plenty of dealers have gotten GT500's in that weren't customer ordered. I don't have any faith in Ford giving reservations first priority. Sure some will be made but don't expect to have all reservations filled before you see dealers with them on the lot for sale. I hope I am wrong but with Fords history of rolling out vehicles I doubt it. Someone start a youtube channel and get it semi popular and I almost guarantee you will be one of the very first to get one.

I'm with you but decided to get the Reservation just because.. had it been $500+ instead of just $100 I may not have, but there is so much demand for the Bronco, and such low production numbers, that I panic'd a bit... although I did it 6 days after the reveal so it may be too late anyway.

When I bought my Mazda 3 (which was the first year of the new design), the only way I got it when I did wasn't because of a "customer order", but because I worked with the dealership and they included "my" order as part of their inventory order. The only issue was that at that time they didn't know how much the car (with the packages) would cost completely.. sort of like Bronco is now.

I believe the reservations will be prioritized with in production runs.
If you order a 4 door base in Velocity blue, it will built in the next batch or 4 doors in VB and will speced out to your selections. Yours would be allocated before standard dealers orders for lot inventory.
However if they are running 4 other trim levels first in multiple colors yours will be behind those. Some dealer stock inventory may run before yours unless you get lucky and pick the right combo, which will either be the most popular combo ordered or the highest grossing combo.
Just my opinion based on 10 years working with Auto Manufacturing plants.
Keep in mind if the supplier for 4 door rear windows or door handles or anything is behind they will adjust production runs.

The Bronco reservations are being handled very differently. Ford is *not* building any stock units until reservations are built-out. There will be several months of production simply to build reserved units.

Reservations will make a huge difference for people. I work at a small dealership and if not for reservations, we'd likely only see a few Bronco's for the first 1/4 of production. This would lead to high prices, even dealers that don't charge ADM's, other dealers will likely offer them ADM's for them to dealer trade and sell them even higher. For example we had a dealer offer us $7k over on our 1 GT500 we get, hard to say no to that, not sure how much he'd sell it for, but more that that. Reservations eliminate this as it doesn't limit how many we can get, I've already got more reservations than what I'd expect to be allocated for the first 3 months. It also means I can buy one myself as normally I don't want to take a profitable unit for myself.

I do think there will be some hurt feelings about reservations on here when production starts. I think many will be disappointed that later reservations get built before their first day reservations. There will be options that will be ordered in quantities higher than production can build, I'm guessing V6 Sasquatch, but could be surprised by early manual sales being high, etc). I have some hope that the reservation system may help with this as Ford's getting a list of models, but not of engine/Sasquatch/trans so I still see issues.

Next issue I see is when the reservations start scheduling. Based on past experience, sold orders usually don't start scheduling until the "ok to ship" has been given. So if Ford follows this practice, there will be cars on lots (or rental fleets) before the reserved orders begin being built. There's a reason behind this. Ford normally holds new models for quality checks as they continue building and fix issues as production goes on. Then once OK to ship starts they go back and fix the issues with the earlier built units. before shipping them. This can take a long time, first built is the last fixed, we had 13 Fusions that were 6 months from production to delivery, We just had a 2020 Police Explorer that was built in August and arrived in February. So you can see how Ford doesn't want retail customer units caught in this.

So based on this I expect some will own a Broncos off of some lots before my reservation Bronco arrives, but they will likely be paying big ADM's which reservation buyers won't. It is possible that they will do retails from the start as they've done it on small volume like GT500, but I don't think they will as it's too high risk if there are quality holds on retail customer cars. Both Ranger and Explorer launch have been bad for this so its entirely possible (Escape went pretty well though).

I hope you all are right on the reservations making a difference. My family owned Ford dealerships for years and they were never great at rolling out vehicles. Bad marketing etc.

My GT500 over a year after being ordered and having the rep say yes its promised to come as a 2020 still not having a build date or VIN just makes me not trust a Ford roll out even more. Especially with the huge number they are allowing to reserve the Bronco. My 500 experience alone keeps me from giving Ford $100. Wait and see how they actually handle the reservations. Hope it goes better for you all. Once I get the 500 and I can walk into a dealerships and order a bronco I will more than likely do it. Also looking forward to your alls reviews so I know whats worth getting.

I wonder if the First Editions will roll off of the line first.

Your not alone on the 500, something must have happened to them during the shut down. Ours is being drop shipped to another dealer, so I'll never see it. Around the start of the Ford shutdown, it was given 01 priority by the region so it should have scheduled, but it didn't, kept getting listed as no engines each week. It finally pulled a week ago, for September build.

I will call the dealership tomorrow and check if mine did as well. Are you on Mustang6g?

September build? isn't that after they usually change model years?

That's good to read for you all. Hope it goes a lot smoother for the Bronco. I had not read that information.

I thought it was late, especially for assigning it in July. Used to Late August early September switch, with cars arriving that couldn't be sold until 2 weeks before intro date which was usually Oct 1, they'd come in with "not for sale" window stickers that got everyone stirred up. Now there's no obvious logic to the switchover, I think CAFE ratings cause a lot of extensions/etc. They had an announcement about extending Explorer model year to get the Police interceptors built as 20's, so Mustang might be in the same boat.

I used to watch 6g alot, haven't paid much attention lately, after adding digital dash to my 15 GT and SYNC3, my wife doesn't think its a good place for me to hang out.

Here's one to make you feel better about your Shelby, I looked at ours (we only get 1 GT500 a year) was over a year from order to assigned a VIN and still not built for a while. Crazy.
