So I was really excited when I saw that the Raptor braces so I ordered them (SKU: M20201CBBK). The parts have come in but I have noticed that I do not have the thread inserts in my roll bar for them to bolt to. Any hope of drilling and placing thread inserts into them?

I read that the roll bars are made of "boron steel". I was just assuming that the should be more difficult to drill and put the thread inserts in. Looking of anyone that has drilled their roll bars.

I think if you use the right drill bits, work your way up in bit/hole size, and use a good coolant or take your time so it's not always hot, you should be able to do it.

Disclaimer: I haven't drilled into boron steel before but that's just my experience with similar metals.

Post an update when you get it installed!

Yes it takes a while..... Patience and pressure and a couple sharp bits. Start with a much smaller bit and go larger and larger. it takes time.

Is this compatible with aftermarket 6' / 6.5' speaker pods?

Order a set of cobalt drills as these are way better for this application than standard high speed steel drills. You could also use solid carbide twist drills but are typically expensive and brittle…easy to break using in a hand drill.

Cobalt drills on Amazon.
