Hey all,

I recently purchased a set of Rockslide Engineering Step Sliders for my 4 door Bronco. Unfortunately, due to some notable rust & corrosion within the frame outside my reach, the rear passenger side body mount bolt snapped almost completely in half. I'm now in the position where the remaining portion of this bolt is stuck on the topside of the frame, and the installer halted there naturally. I'm trying to decide if I'll need to consider getting my rig to a collision repair shop to have the bolt cut out ($$$), new receiver welded in, and bolt replaced or if there's a possibility that the setup could work with 3 of the 4 brackets in place on the passenger side. Definitely eager to hear thoughts and opinions of those with these steps, especially. If it helps, my rig rarely sees extreme technical trails or boulders (South FL).

Thanks!

I've never met a bolt that heat, penetrating oil, time, or a drill bit and Easy-Out couldn't eventually remove. Working on a broken fastener offers an opportunity to work in solitude and explore the depth and breadth of your foul language vocabulary.

Sorry this isn't helpful, but I can't seem to visualize the bolt you're referring to. You can find parts diagrams on the Ford site and show us a diagram of which bolt is broken.

It's definitely a part with many synonyms:

My installer did follow the RSE guide in addition to heating the bolt to prevent stripping. I think unfortunately there was so much rust and corrosion on the bolt (originally a NY dwelling vehicle before my ownership), as well as it potentially being cross-threaded by Ford during assembly. That broken bolt appears dry.

Or maybe I'm just a slob when applying penetrating oil
