Bad rear shocks, the sequel...

I have found several additional threads on the same subject:

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/rear-shocks-failed-parts-fell-off.101827/
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/rear-strut-reservoir-fell-off.77812/
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/my-external-shock-reservoir-fell-off.69677/

I never believed this was an isolated incident. And given the number of posts on the subject, even less now. I spent hours during the last few months on the phone with Ford Canada trying to obtain a resolution. All I got is a financial compensation. Although appreciated given that the warranty had just expired when I took the car in, Ford (dealership or Ford Canada) did not take ownership for the poor quality shocks installed at the time of manufacturing. My understanding following all those conversations is that the more people complain about it, the more likely a recall will be issued.

On a different note, now that I have a new set of shocks installed, and now that I know what it feels like to drive around with blown rear shocks, I realize that those are likely not the best model available (this was also mentioned in the different posts). I will wait to see how long these new shocks last. If they end top falling apart in less than two years, I'll know for sure and likely upgrade.

Damn. I need to go check mine again. I've got armor over resis and they seemed solid. My rear end has become increasingly bouncy and floaty over the past few weeks (24K miles right now). To attempt warranty or upgrade to 6100s...

Are 6100s a direct replacement for a Sasquatch? I’m considering upgrading, but wanna keep the same ride height.

Yep. You can use your current springs and adjust retainer ring to match your current height. The SAS shocks are the same total length as 6100s.

I’ve seen two recent FB posts where shock replacements have been unavailable and Ford said they are working with the supplier on the next shipment and the “product under redesign”…

Welp... Just ordered 6100s. Now time to find a high quality widow-maker spring compressor.

Well...My reservoirs are still (sadly) in place. I inspected everything and can't find a cause for the bumpy ride. 6100s are on their way. Will try alignment after that install.

They were on a temporary back order back in September, but there are plenty available right now. Don’t think they’re changing anything.

Edit 1: My issue was a horribly balanced tire (KO2 @ 17K miles). Took 2 attempts to get back to reasonable level (my guess is defect of some sort). Got 6100s and alignment for fun I guess... :)

Edit 2: Previous fix was very temporary. Tires are still balanced but two have 65+ lbs on road force. Tired of babying my KO2s, so swapping all 5 to MT Baja Boss AT (35"x12.5"X17" D2) with credit.
