I’ve found a few hard tops for sale that would require me to facilitate having it shipped from the sellers residence to mine. Any suggestions on a shipping option that would be safe but reasonably priced? Thanks.

I'm lucky enough to have a good friend that owns a moving business. I have bought Sas wheels from Houston and Sas struts from the Dallas area off here. I check if he's going to that area an in the near future an if so he has a driver pick them up for me.
Wonder if you could get that lucky, finding someone close to you going to that area that would pick it up for a fee.

Once had an early Bronco tub shipped. I hired a pallet company to make a pallet or it would’ve been destroyed. I’d be Leary of throwing cardboard and shrink wrap around it only. Fly out w a buddy, grab a Uhaul and bring it back?

Unless the seller packs it in a wooden crate, any LTL shipment will most likely smash the shit out of it. How far away are you from the seller? The above suggestion of renting a u-haul is a good idea.

I hear there is a great way to retrieve a hardtop without damage. Drive your bronco there and put it on. Then u also get to inspect it and assure of jo shenanigans.
Sounds 2700 miles round trip. Not too bad.
LTL is gonna get wrecked if it’s not packaged right.
Contact a mover in the area and see if they can pick it up, palletize it and wrap it.
Then get an ltl rate to come pick it up from their dock and sent to your house.
I work for a moving company and do these kinds of quotes frequently. Might cost you 4-500 bucks or more depending on if they have a minimum

If you've already found a few hard tops available for sale, then just wait for a seller closer to your location (I'm surprised you found that many for sale, especially ones without honeycombing or hairline cracks).
As for shipping maybe call Ford dealers close to all those sellers and see if you can acquire a used hardtop shipping crate with leftover packaging.
