Basequatch or Black Diamond?

It was either Base sas 2.7 or BL sas 2.7 lux early on for us. If was going to add options I was going to add them all and I'm not really a fan of mid trims. If I remember it was about a 16-20k diff. MGV is hot in the south and it's just a 3rd fun vehicle for us so we settled in on base sas 2.7 ealry on. We really like it. I've toyed with the idea of running down a Braptor but decided it's a little much for us, I didn't want to go thought that process again and it's too big for the south.

Without a doubt best value. Like i said earlier, if the aftermarket 7 pin tow package gets figured out for Base, it’s a very very easy decision for me.

Oh yes the $4000 7 pin hitch package (aka P.T. Barnum package)................... You want a Baseaquatch, with the 2.7, but MUST have the 7 pin, so you get tint, and a leather wrapped wheel/shifter ($870) and the seven pin ($4000), as well as the BB badge. The BB 2.7 Sas (non mid), has to be the worst value of any configuration.

Based on this past Saturday, I'd say this:

A) If you are taking it off-road - get the Black Diamond. Washout interior was critical this past weekend.

B) Not taking it off-road - get the cheapest version of the two.

Hard to argue the value and capability of the Basesquatch. I actually ordered one but a few weeks later my wife found out about the mid-package and what it had to offer so I went with the Big Bend Sasquatch. You might be thinking, why didn’t I opt for the BD or BL? as the total is around 51K. I live in NC and I don’t want to deal with the MGV on the dead of summer. I keep the top off my current Jeep a lot during the summer, sometimes all day at the beach. That’s a no go for leather or MGV. The allure of washout floors sounds cool, but I’m not spraying out the Bronco. Just pull out the rubber mats and clean them… works just fine in my Jeep JL.

Also, on the east coast we always disconnect the sway bar while airing down for a trail. Quick disconnects cost $250… I don’t need to disconnect a sway bar mid obstacle all I need to grab is some frame mounted rock rails and some underbody armor and I’ll hang with the best of them.

At least according to the EPA mpg estimates, the difference between a sas bronco and a BD w advanced 4x4 is pretty neglibible at 17 vs 18 mpg. Engine choice has almost no impact as it has to produce the same power to overcome the aerodynamics and weight either way. That extra mpg equates to a savings of $572 over the course of 50k miles assuming $3.50 a gallon. That's basically the same cost difference as the cost of 35" sas tires vs the 32" bd tires ($200 vs ~$330 per tire assuming about 50k mile life of the tire). All in all, about $250 extra a year or per 10k miles (or an extra 2.5c/mile) to drive a base sas vs a stock bd.

Looks like the Base went up $1500 tonight to a total of $2300 over the 2021 pricing. Not sure what the BD went up.

Yep, price increase could play a factor here. I have a signed purchase agreement with the dealer already in place for the Basequatch, I wonder how that is going to play out with the price increase. Looks like a four-door Black Diamond jumped about $1,300.00.
