I am attempting to install fog lights and use the aux violette/green wire for power. Problem I’m having is there is no power to the same wire on the firewall. Tested the lights work by direct connect to battery positive and ground is on the body. Checked all 6 aux switch fuses (60-65) and the #3 10am was blown and replaced it but still no luck.
Anyone run into this and successful in troubleshooting and fixing?

thanks in advance!!

I haven’t looked at the color code for your specific wires but I suspect:

There are two sets of wiring with the switches

The switches themselves, which are powered, are only located back by the fuse box / drivers side fire wall. Only broncos with the factory aux switches have these, and it’s just a short pigtail there so you can hook stuff up.

Then there are 5 or so pre-run wires through out the Bronco. Several of them are at the same spot as the switches, but are not connected to anything - just spare wire pre-installed you can use for whatever. All Broncos have these. If you want to use them with the aux switches you have to hook them up to the wiring for the switches.

Also, make sure you have key on or none of the aux switches will have power.

yes I have the factory aux switches and have connected the violette /green wire to the yellow wire on the firewall. The violette / green at the front by the grill is connected to the accessory power (fog lights power. Vehicle is on and doesn’t power on the fog lights when I turn aux switches on from inside the cabin (aux switch lighting turns on but doesn’t power the accessory)

Are you using switch 3 and are you within specs for the amperage your lights require?

Yes, aux3. Total amps drawn are 7.5a so within the 10a limit. Installing oracle triple led fog lights.

Where did you end up grounding the lights?

To wire your lights for Aux#3 switch: At the firewall connect Violet/Green to Violet/Grey (wire C) and the other end of Violet/Grey to your lights at the grill.

Use a volt meter if you are unsure.

Well, that fuse is supposed to protect the wire, but i would check continuity of that wire end to end. Always use relays with lights.

Always use relays with lights.
There is an OEM relay in line with each Aux switch in the fuse box, so as long as he’s within the 10 A circuit rating he’s good here. I just learned this myself and eliminated extra relays on a project or two.

This was very helpful. I didn’t initially see there were non powered wires at the firewall and so that was the missing link. I connected the two violets together and got power to aux3. Thank you all for your help!!
