BTW, since I've seen this asked quite a few times and never answered...

When your doors are off, the steps operate as if the door is "closed" and they are retracted permanently. This is what I would have expected because obviously as you're driving around doorless, the truck wouldn't want to be thinking the doors were "open".

Anyway, confirmed today as I took my doors off. Which also gave me to have a reason to use the switch a few times so my 7yr old daughter could get in and out easier.

I am waiting on mine to arrive. Should be soon.

My question is, when you open the door to remove it, the step would deploy. When does it retract if you don't have the switch? After you unplug the door?

Yes, as soon as you unplug the door the step retracts.

Good luck. I've been checking for at least a month with every site I could find that sells them and no one has any stock.
This was Amp's response when I asked if they had a restock date:
"Lead time on steps is about 12 weeks from when the backorder is placed. "

So I'm thinking my best bet is to simply order a set and hope they backfill sooner than expected.

I jumped on this when I saw your post but it looks like a strikeout. Just got this email from CarID.

"We would like to thank you for your order with us here at CARiD.com.
. Upon processing your order, our manufacturing facility has informed us that the following item(s) are no longer available, please view details and options bellow.
Reason:
Good afternoon, I apologize. We were notified by the manufacturer that this item has been discontinued. So, the only options are to change to something else or cancel the order. Please confirm how you want to proceed. Thanks!"

So now I have the plug &play kit and override switch coming but no steps. Maybe just placing an order for the new units and waiting to be filled is the next best option.

Ugh. Weeks later and now it just shows either discontinued or "unavailable until further notice." Makes me wonder is AMP is having company issues.
