Honest question that I'm hoping someone can chime in on.

I have heard the final assembly by ADV a few times but I have also heard customers will have to assemble the top as well. Has any light been shed on what will be assembled by ADV and what the customer can be expected to do assembly wise?

ADV tops have to be assembled together, from what I've heard. I'm assuming it's "connect the top to the sides and install the glass." Sounds pretty simple.

Other options on the market come pre-assembled.

It'll ship packed flat, so the two side pieces and rear window/panel will need to be bolted onto the top panel to "assemble" the rear section.
(As I understand it anyway).
They had sent out a list of needed tools to complete assembly/installation a while back. Mostly Torx drivers/wrenches

I'm not exactly sure what "final" (semi-final) assembly ADV is actually doing.
I assume installing glass and rubber gaskets.

From what a culled out of the videos, it looks like the 2 pieces of the top are fitted together and filled with closed cell foam in California.
China appears to be making all the fiberglass parts . Ergo the Final ASSEMBLY In California.
Foam, glass, molding. Then it is packed and shipped out to the customers who put the 2 sides and the rear on.
The install video would be nice to see, I see believe that the top is placed upside-down and then the 2
Sides and the back are attached. The entire top is then righted and guided into t he existing hole mounts on the bronco. EXACTLY LIKE YOU WOULD ATTACH THE OEM. John had said he timed himself and it took 1 hr. Of course you need at least 2 people to safely pick it up and position it.
Exactly like the oem install on you tube.
I'm going to get as many people, hopefully 2 on each side to get it in

Once it goes on it ain't coming off

What is the formula to determine the equivalent of "1 hour to assemble"
to "Delivering in late 2022"?

That's the final final. Like a fireworks show or a concert it is hard to guess the final final.

Hopefully ADV will do final/full assembly, then partial disassembly for shipping, so "final" re-assembly?

Yea h, ha ha, I figure 1 and a half hours to fully remove the soft top and related hardware that goes with it.
I've never so much as put in down so it will take me a while. Me I'm figuring 3 hrs to unpack organize and put the top together and install it. I assume it's straightforward. Buy doing something the first time takes more time. When I help my buddy. Aka TEN THUMBS. Install his, I will probably do it much faster. I will post my prowess when I complete the job. I also have to mount the oem roof rack which has become part of my poarch the last 2 years

I'm currently running the top as a beta tester for John and the team. I put mine together at the shop with him. It's a very easy install, but you will need 2 sets of hands.

I would estimate for the average person it's about a 2 hour job. For the 3 piece roof, the rear section is shipped flat in 4 pieces: Large flat top, and two sides and a rear window. They all bolt up, and take gaskets that you need to install.

The top is fantastic, you'll love it! Below are some photos with a side by side to a stock one and a link to my IG where I tested standing on it.

That IG post is nearly 8 months old? Also, if you're a beta tester for it, how long is it going to be in beta? Is this like Google keeping GMail in beta for 10 years or something?

Maybe a picture of the factory floor with today's copy of the New York Times would help, like a proof of life sort of thing.

If the top, side and back panels bolt together... I assume the panels have flanges with holes for bolts to connect? Are there any photos yet of the interior, showing where and how these panels are joined?

Only hardtop I've had with bolt together panels was on my old Jeep, but that top was made of steel. Will be interesting to see how this ADV top is assembled.

If you need proof of life, just check the recent posts.... it's still on there.

I started testing it in June, the ADV team can comment on when it will be released to the public. I just wanted to give everyone an idea of what it takes to put one together since I actually have.

Some changes were made to meet the very high expectations John and the team have for their products. Making new casting dies cost a lot of money and time, so trust me they want to start delivering them ASAP! Their glass is the best in the industry and this top is as well IMO.
