So you are saying that a person should not make a private sale for the maximum amount of dollars they can get for their property? Good God; this country is doomed.
Not what I'm saying at all. Let the market do its thing. I am saying the only way we stop seeing $85k Broncs is to quit paying that for them.

You sound happy about paying so much for a toy. I'm not.

Yep, just take every dollar you can get, screw treating people right, caring, or anything... Just take what you can get 'cause you can...

That's the real attitude that dooms this country. Nothing wrong with a fair price, but thinking you always need to take every penny, and get the maximum is the issue on the lot or from a private sale.

Help out your buddy who has been waiting on dirt mountain... Pass it along, a square deal where everyone comes out ahead. That's how you get through life.
Jawbox...when your Bronco comes in I will give you $15K less then you paid, cause that's all I can afford.

Agreed and what I was alluding to before. Price fixing is WAY worse than people trying to capitalize on supply shortages if there’s high demand. Once that starts happening the entire economy and truly civilization as we know it is doomed, as the market will no longer be free and nobody participating in it will be either.

As said before, let the market do its thing. Those complaining about how wrong it is charge ADM, don’t purchase from dealers that do that.

That’s literally the entire point of capitalism, there’s TWO SIDES of the market. If businesses on one side are busy trying to screw the other side over, then customers can take their business elsewhere and REWARD businesses that act favorably to customers. This is the point of capitalism, it lets things naturally settle and filter out bad actors.

What’s really going to doom the country isn’t people trying to make a fast buck on someone, it’s people that are too self serving and impatient to let the market do what it naturally does best - filter out businesses that don’t appropriately meet the needs of consumers.

Corvettes are fucking insane right now. People trying to sell base C7 Stingrays for $75k and Z06s for 90. I should've bought a C7 Z06 when they were $65k all day less than two years ago.
In the middle of Covid my brother bought a beautiful Stingray 2LT convertible with 800 miles on it for only $47k and flipped it 9 months later for $54k with 3k miles on it. I know he could have gotten well over $60k. The kicker is I was the one that had it almost the entire time as he was in Iraq/Dubai.

I said a fair deal, and I think most people here get what that means.

When my build comes in, I'm going to either sell the one I bought off the lot to someone who wants it for my cost or less, or let the dealer sell it and make a profit on it because they treated me right through this who process.

Whatever I do though, it will be treating people right.

I used to joke that no matter how much money you put into an old Jeep, you could never sell one for more than 14 thousand dollars.

At this point... I am hoping for the OJM (Old Jeep Mark UP) to offset the ADM - LOL.

Seriously though, where the hell is my Bronco!?

Meh. I really want the Bronco, but luckily I don't NEED it, Got a vehicle that runs (20 year old Subie forester) and if the dealer tries to screw me I can just walk away - have several trucks lined up that would fit the role nicely (maybe better?) and are readily available.

Nobody likes ADM but the dealers. Look how many threads here are talking about it. The reality is that ADM will continue until people quit paying it. It really is that simple, but oh so difficult to make happen.

We've all seen stories of people walking away from previously agreed on deals because of ADM, and we should absolutely applaud them. They should get special status here among fellow enthusiasts. But for every person who walks away, there are many more who are willing to pay ADM. That's why it won't go away.
Go Bills !

No, the point of capitalism isn't to filter out bad actors. It ain't no moral crusade or religion, as much as some people act like it is.

Nobody’s saying it’s a moral crusade or religion, but it kind of can be really. You CAN vote with your wallet.

Nevertheless, capitalism discourages a party on either side of the equation from acting too far outside of the best interests of the other side by encouraging competition, it’s the built in safety mechanism and form of check / balance.

In this case, the long term impact of capitalism would be for consumers to stop buying from dealers that do ADM and reward those that don’t with their business instead - this is competition in action and will ultimately result in dealers that are acting too far outside of the interests of consumers either changing or going out of business.

The problem is that this doesn’t happen fast enough for many people in the modern world and they forget this fundamental feature of capitalism.

Capitalism doesn’t work without demand and right now we have a lot of demand for cars, boats, RV’s, houses, etc. Cars are selling as soon as they come into dealerships and I don’t see that changing this year but it won’t last forever.

Inflation is at rates we haven’t seen in 40+ years which means the average American household will pay and extra $5300 for household expenses this year. You could say we are all paying an inflation ā€œtaxā€ and we all feel it each time we fill up our gas guzzling Broncos. If that continues for a couple years demand for many items will slow as many will be spending a much larger chunk of their money on basic needs like food, energy, and clothing.

Eventually we will get to the point where supply and demand are in balance again, possibly because of an inflation caused recession. At that point, Broncos could certainly be available at well below MSRP because so few will be able to afford them. I’m sure that will make those that don’t like capitalism happy.

ā€œCapitalism has worked very well. Anyone who wants to move to North Korea is welcome.ā€

At what point is it no longer ADM and just the market price right now and for the foreseeable future? Almost everything has a markup now. A 3 year old TRD Pro with 30k miles selling for more than the original MSRP, most used cars jacked up, houses in bidding wars selling for 20% over asking to cash buyers…buy a steak lately?

Im talking only dealer stock, not orders with a prior agreed upon price.
