I would prefer stainless steel but the chrome works for me. I want to do 6 roof lights that are the same or similar and a few other things. To me it makes it look more retro or vintage.

Yeah, I get it. The old ones just had more metal/aluminum, like mirrors, wheels, trims etc to tie in the look. The new ones are all black or white plastic/metal so the lights looked out of place.

I hear you. Unfortunately, my budget doesn't allow me to swap everything out I want to do at one time. I have a lot of plans to get it to the way I want it to look, this was just a single step on a long road.

A friend had some 6 inch KC covers, but the were slightly to small. But the covers were for newer LEDs so maybe that's why.

I got halogen lights on mine and I think the vinyl covers run bigger...
it's worth buying and returning if not. They definitely look good and will help against rock chips/bugs

I went with Flex Era 4s in a combo beam pattern, but had to have the retro daylighter covers to match.
